I got this helmet for my son who was 8.5 years. He is a big 8 year old but would say it would do an average 8 year old also

We recommend the following government approved guide which states this and other considerations how to order or choose a correct size helmet: http://sharp.direct.gov.uk/content/fitting-guide So i recommend you to order L. If it does not fit, you can return for swapping but please bear the return postage. For the products such as helmet, because of safety reason, the helmet must be returned in unused condition. The helmet cannot be treated as unused condition if the film on the visor has been peeled off.
