Q: can i install straight forward to my 1996 328i?

Yes. Use the holes that held the old part on at each corner. I upgraded the hardware to a panhead screw with and locknuts that I picked up at the homedepo instead of using the cheap plastic pushin anchors of the old part.

Q: Will this fit my 2003 325i?

No only fits on e36 models and your car is an e46
