The Truth of You: Poetry About Love, Life, Joy, and Sadness (The Souls Trilogy)

This poetry book was a profound inward look at oneself from different perspectives. I found many of the poems relatable and some that resonated long after reading them. Iain has such a simple, yet, innate ability to bring you to caverns of your mind and heart you rarely venture to and help you confront emotions you may not have known existed within.

I absolutely love love love this one by Iain S. Thomas . I've also read his 'I wrote this for you -just the words', and 'every word you cannot say' and while those were enjoyable, i personally was able to relate mostly with this one, 'the truth of you' I've added two pics from this book for anyone who may be curious if they'd like this book. Although we all have differing preferences, I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys insightful free verse poetry. The various poems in this book will offer a full scope of emotions, from sad themes to hopeful themes and so on. One of the reasons I like this book so much, it's not overly saturated with any single 'theme' so I feel the poems in this collection have relatable potential to almost any reader.

I preordered this book and got it the day it was released, and read it all in pne sitting. the book pairs really well with the audiobook so much so that i was in tears turning every page. the way Iain reads his book, it is like he is right next to you, helping you get through each poem, but as you go on, its like a gentle push and then some of them is just heart wretching and a few made me laugh. but ultimately he captured me and kept me reading all the way till the end. and while i have always loved his work, this was the first time i heard him read a whole book and i loved every single minute of it. highly recommend this book to anyone who wishes to be taken into a world of love, pain, light, dark, the sea, the universe, laughter, falling, forgotten songs, all speak to the truth of every part of what it means to have the truth and continue to find it.

I read it all in one day, and I was left in awe. I felt so understood and I felt so much comfort. He truly has a way with words because poem had a profound impact on me. I have always loved poetry and I want to expand my collection of poetry books. I highly recommend this. The best poetry book I have read!

I listened to this as an audiobook, read by the author. I'd like to revisit it again with my own voice inside my head. Either way, this came to me in a way and at a time I needed it. It was a valuable way in which I came to myself and sat with myself, a meditation in a way. For this, especially after the last couple of years, I am very grateful. Thoughts and questions don't have to be profound to hit us just so--and sometimes the simplest thoughts and questions turn out to be the most profound. I don't know how it might hit others, but if you're open to some reflection, I'd say it's well worth the time. I give this review freely having received an advanced copy from NetGalley.

very touching and inspiring, a must read

Some incredible poems. This makes a nice gift as well
