I ordered this cranked shuffler as a replacement to the battery-operated shuffler that worked well for such a short time. Naturally I wasn't sure what to expect but so far my card playing buddies and I are well pleased with this purchase. It does have its little glitches; for one the cards hang up at times but a quick reverse of the crank and back again clears it. It sometimes shuffles one stack faster than the other but not a huge problem for us. The handle is snugged into the bottom of the machine for storing - remove it. The first day of use, it was frustrating as after placement in the keyhole, the handle kept working out as we turned it, but it must have seated in because that is no longer a problem. Once we found our cranking rhythm for some unknown reason it's become ridiculously fun to use the shuffler, the cards are mixed well and not nearly as noisy as the auto shuffler. After researching shufflers, it was apparent none of them - at least in the affordable price range - have a long infallible working life but if this one lasts a reasonable length of time, we are all in agreement that we would replace it with another like this.

I honestly didn't think we needed such a device, but the family wanted to try it. I must now admit that I love it! Not only does it do its thing very well, but it's quite a bit of fun, lol. Just buy it - seriously.

Two decks max, and it will keep the kids entertained before the game begins. No batteries, no slipping, just shuffling. It's not huge, it will shuffle as fast as you can turn it, and it is light, compact, and not flimsy. Get this over any battery operated one.

I thought this was going to shuffle a lot slower than it does, but it's surprisingly comparable to the electric ones in speed without you having to go nuts on the crank; there are videos in the reviews here that demonstrate it. The only real complaint I have is that for $20 the construction of it feels a bit flimsy. Even getting the crank out of its little slot at the bottom of the shuffler had me thinking it was going to snap in the process, and personally the handle for the crank squeaks a lot when I turn it, but I can live with that. I went with this instead of an electric shuffler because the cards I needed to shuffle are old and uneven, so I wanted something that I could easily stop if it jammed instead of risking ruining the cards. If you don't need that you could probably just get a comparable electric one with a rechargeable battery or something. But you've gotta admit that the crank action is pretty cool.
