Great headphones
These were purchased for the booth in a recording studio. They sound great, are comfortable to wear for long periods and good value for what they are.

They sound fantastic - but thin cables
I have other nice open-backed headphones, but wanted something closed-back so I could listen to music in bed without disturbing my partners sleep. These sound much more detailed than the cheaper headphones and in-ear monitors I was using before, and also more "flat" which I like - the bass is less overpowering and more nuanced, but still great. Cable doesn't seem very durable, and isn't replaceable so I don't think these will last forever, but fine for me as I'm using them at home. Would probably not last long if they were been thrown in a bag for commuting every day. They are all plastic construction but much more solid than my cheaper headphones. I was considering spending £200 on fancier headphones, but these sound so good and I'm so happy with them that I'm glad I didn't for now. ------------- Update August 2025: Unfortunately the thin cables haven't even lasted with home use, both left and right channels be started to "crackle" or even cut out completely. This has now been returned for a refund and is replaced by the SRH440A with detachable (therefor replaceable) cable. While the SRH440A are indeed better in every way, I was perfectly content with the SRH240A, just wish the cable was sturdier.

Soft and comfortable fit around the ears.
Looks quality, feels quality and superior sound and noise cancellation than my current ones. I use them mainly for watching movies on an evening and occasionally music. For movie watching it is a far superior immersive experience than other sets I have tried. Love the bass and I do hear things better in the background of movies that I have previously missed on other sets. Ear pads do fully cover my ears and are comfortable to wear and most important for me easy to wipe and keep clean as oppose to the sponge/net type covers on previous sets. I like these very much, especially the price tag, great value for money, hence the rating.

Sound quality is good but lacks bass
good headphone great quality, however lacks a bit of bass ,my old cheap sony headphoes had more bass, these are over the ear headphones and can fell quite heavy on the ears, also my ears get very sweaty and warm if used for a long time but overall i am please with them the detail of sound is good

These are superb for the price
Got them tonight and connected them to my MX61 synthesizer. The piano now sounds like a piano - much better than my old headphones. They seem comfortable and are not too tight. Well worth the money. I may get another set for my Roland (the wife doesn't like my music, so I have to have headphones!!).

Nice set of headphones let down by a flimsy lead. I expect better from Shure. Otherwise a good deal.
Not a bad set of headphones for the money. They're a bit of a 70's throwback design but seem to perform ok. I found the construction to be quite robust for the money. The earcups are nice and large with plenty of padding. Sound leakage is very small from the phones themselves. I did not however rate the quality of the lead. It's a very flimsy affair and being non replacable would render these phones a bin job at the slightest pull. Nice quality jack plug though. The sound is rich and quite deep, but not especially extended in the highs. The mids are strong and the bass is punchy, if not earth shattering. Long term listening is very comfortable though with little fatigue. I can see these phones being very at home with a 70's hifi system and if Shure could ditch the cable, or at least make it replacable/upgradable with a minijack then these phones would get 5 stars, as it stands it's only 4 stars and the next model up the line would be a better buy.
