Knot Tying Kit

This is a great little set that has so much information. I love that the cards are plastic. It shows you 24 knots and gives you pneumonia devices to help you memorize them.

This kit arrives in a compact, plastic clam shell package and includes the set of 6 wallet sized knot tying cards, two pieces of rope/line at about 24" ea and a smaller, metal carabiner. I was looking at ordering just the cards but didn't want to have to scrounge for some line to practice with. I read reviews of others saying their line was old and brittle but I did not have this issue. I found both pieces pliable and easy to work with.I got this set to refresh my memory on some basic knots so I did find the included basic info on each of the 20 knots useful. If you can't figure out the knots from these cards you might print out larger instructions from the internet until you get the hang of each knot. I used to own a boat and am familiar with all included knots, I just needed a refresher, and am planning on keeping the compact, waterproof set in my survival kit once I'm done playing with it.In the end, it's up to you to decide if you should get this little set, just the cards or, or simply pass on it as the limited and basic knot tying info might not be useful for you. The product is great. I ordered this for my 10 year old. However, when we got it, the product packaging was open and we were missing some of the parts. The amazon packaging was completely sealed which means it was packed that way. Someone at Amazon noticed and sent it anyway. I ordered it again and kept the first pack, our closest return center is 30 minutes away, and I can’t get there before they close. It was easier to be out the few bucks, and given the purpose of this little set, wouldn’t be bad to have the extra parts.

Be forewarned: This is a very small kit. As you can see in the picture I’ve included, these are more like paracords than ropes. I should have done more research, so I only have myself to blame. But this was really disappointing!! I really thought I would be getting some sort of rope to use for practice, like most of the knot-tying videos use to demonstrate and practice. Oh, well. The cards are great and helpful, and actually they can be purchased separately without the “paracord.” Had these been rope, I may have given the product 5 stars.

I bought this because I knew nothing about tying knots and I wanted to get better at it for the purposes of camping and outdoor survival. It achieved exactly what I desired--the two ropes were a good size for portability and for tying most of the knots on the instruction card. I find myself bringing this kit with me when I'm out and about and practicing knots like a weirdo. I've even been putting my phone down at night and opting for some knot practice. Bottom line: great kit for people who want to learn some essential and useful knots.

Great product but didn’t survive the shipping. Package was broken open inside the shipping box. Pieces everywhere

The cards are the size of business cards small and hard to follow poor directions. The rope is hard and brittle from years of sitting. Look up the knots on line and get a piece of line and learn them.
