Nice piece when complete, but not without challenges ~ 4-1/2 Stars
First off, the delivery of this Amherst TV Media Stand was very timely. The box looked like it had been through a war, so I worked it into the house and proceeded to unpack everything to make sure all was well. Everything in the box was well packaged and undamaged, with the exception of the top, which had one corner cracked and chipped. The corners were protected with foam blocks but something more substantial should be used. The chip was ready to break off, so I pressed wood glue into it and the crack, clamped it and let it set for a couple of hours. I lightly sanded the corner to remove anything that might snag a dust cloth. The finish was then touched up using a Tombo ABT N15 Black touch-up pen, which my wife uses in touching up frames after she frames her paintings. In the meantime I read through the instructions and proceeded to start the assembly. Right off the bat parts E-L and E-R were mismarked; the left one had the right sticker and vice versa. The instructions are a little difficult, but I was able to get it put together, in about five hours, by myself. The hardware that comes with this is well marked in individual bags, which is nice. It even comes with two Allen wrenches and extra hardware. I have assembled four pieces of furniture this year, 3 pieces in the last 2 months and this was the most challenging. The holes were properly placed and everything fit up pretty well, considering this is made from solid wood and not MDF like the others I put together. Solid wood shrinks and warps, so things can change, creating challenges that you don't get when dealing with MDF products. Taking this into consideration the fabrication of all pieces was done pretty well. My only issues were two screw holes that were a little large so the screws would not tighten - they were snug but not near as tight as all the others. The Cam Lock pins and cam lock hardware are not top quality; I had a couple that did not want to tighten and one that bent while trying to tighten. This was easily remedied by squeezing with a set of pliers to flatten it back out. Some of the cam lock pins were not real straight, but a slight tap with a small hammer took care of that. Other than these little issues it went together pretty well. Last but not least, there are no pre-drilled holes for the four back pieces - not a huge problem I drilled my own. It would have been nice if the back was one piece, but the four work.My only other negative about this Entertainment Center is the center shelves are stated to be adjustable, but there is only one other set of holes to either move the bottom shelf up or the top shelf down. I ended up drilling a couple of new holes to raise the bottom shelf height by 3/4" to accommodate my equalizer. I did not install the doors which I am pretty sure would have taken another hour or so. I am very picky about how things get done and strive for perfection in all I do, but as you all know, nothing is perfect so we do the best we can. All in all this project has turned out very well. Total time to complete my project, including moving all of my audio equipment, was about 12 hours.

High qualtiy, but black finish scratches easily
This is a very high quality piece of furniture, and I was quite impressed with the packing and included hardware. Instructions were not included, nor could I find a link on the Simpli Home website, but there is a link to the PDF in the Amazon product description, so print those out before assembly. This is a decent value for the money, and looks very classy. The assembly was pretty easy, it uses the same kind of hardware to join the sides to the top/bottom as most Ikea furniture, where a screw-in metal post on one part joins to a rotating lock nut that fits inside a circular cutout in the adjoining wood part. The only tools required are a #2 Phillips head screwdriver and the included hex key. It definitely helps to have some experience with furniture assembly, but I think anyone could figure it out. It took me 90 minutes to assemble at a leisurely pace. There is no glue, so this can be easily disassembled and reassembled for moving (which is good since it weighs 75 pounds). There was plenty of room for my cable box, VHS player, 2 DVD players, a Playstation 3, A/V receiver, an Apple TV, Apple Time Capsule, large WiFi router, cable modem, and home automation bridges, with room left more more. I like the way there is plenty of room to run cables between the shelves and the open top. This made it possible for me to make everything very clean along with some cable wraps in the back. There are slots in the equipment shelves to help with airflow and prevent overheating. The storage had room for over 100 DVDs spread out over assorted jewel boxes, box sets, and folders, plus around 40 CDs, and I still have room for more. This is stacking them several layers deep, though, with only the first layer visible from the front.I had to deduct one star because the wood is pretty soft and the black paint scratches easily. I might have gotten the woodgrain one if I had realized this, even though this goes better with my interior. I plan on getting a fabric runner for the top to prevent the inevitable scratching of the surface. The front should be OK, as long as I can keep the cat from scratching it. My previous entertainment center from Ikea is 20 years old and was still going strong. I see no reason why this piece of furniture won't last at least that long.

Versatile Media Cabinet
Certainly there are more expensive media cabinets out there, but I was looking for a media cabinet that would fit into an alcove, had three shelves for components, a center channel shelf, and room for DVD's. This cabinet fit the bill. It's very sturdy, easy to assemble, handles all my equipment, and looks great!I was surprised how many DVD's I could fit into the cabinets, and I also had room for my bookshelf speakers on the top of the unit on either side of the TV. The component shelves have slots for air circulation, so your components don't over heat, and there's also a large slot and hole on the back of the unit for cord management. This cabinet checked all the boxes for my installation, and I am very pleased with the purchase.

Nice looking and solid wood
The instructions were good, it took a few hours to assemble without problems. There weren’t any pilot holes in the back of the unit to install the back wood pieces, I had to drill them. Lovely item.We have purchased three different units from Simplihome as they have a good selection and products are solid wood.

Use the holes as your guide
One piece was not labeled, two were mislabeled and the pilot holes were not drilled large enough for the cam pins to be inserted (I'm not the only one who had this problem). This is packed in a very heavy box and getting it out was like wrestling an alligator. I advise you to have 2 other people with drills and other assorted tools on hand when you attempt to assemble this. Or spend the extra money and have someone come to your home and put this together. I'm not having any fun doing this myself, it cant be returned and I've read complaints about their customer service as well so I'm not going to bother complaining to them.
