A Much Needed Update
I bought this globe to replace one (also a Replogle) I had received as a gift 30 years ago. I looked at my old one a lot, but it was so out-of-date that it wasn't possible to follow current events. I'm really happy with my new globe. It has all the recent international boundaries and looks like a work of art. My old globe only used different colors to distinguish between U. S. states and different countries, but this new one uses different colors within countries to, for example, show Canadian provinces. My only complaint is that, in some cases (such as between Estonia and Russia or Arizona and New Mexico), the colors of adjacent entities are very similar and it is difficult to tell them apart. Still, overall, I am very happy with this purchase.

Not absolutely perfect, but really close to it
I read a lot of reviews on globes, and it appears that unless you shell out $500 for a globe, you're going to have a few lines not match up completely in the longitude. This is no different here. But it's really not noticeable unless you're looking for the imperfections because it's only 3 lines and they're only off by 1 to 2 millimeters from 60degreesE to 90degreesE (which is in the Indian Ocean and doesn't effect the countries). I'm very happy with this globe otherwise. The base is sturdy. No wobbling. Good wood and a heavy screw at the base. It spins nicely. Comes with a "how to read your globe" guide and I like the time difference dial at the top of the globe. The raised topography is nice and not intrusive. The antique look is better in person. The countries are more subtly colored than in the picture which I found to be a little too "candy like". It appears to be up to date. Contains lots of cities, river names, etc aside from the obvious country and ocean names. I think it's a great globe. It's probably really worth about $50 at most, but when the cheapest globe online is about $30 and those are absolutely horrible in construction, this is worth the money in comparison. Seems the globe manufacturers keep the price a little artificially high.

First globe was defective, replacement sent
When I initially go the first globe there was a huge gap along the equator and the tape that is suppose to be the equator, which is there to hide the seam, was inside the gap because it was so wide. I contacted the seller as I was going to return the item, but they offered to send a replacement globe. I figured, might as well give it a try because that way I would not be out the shipping to get it to me and return. They send out the new globe and that one was fine. I would give the customer service an A+. As far as quality, it's not the "greatest globe in the world", but it is also no where near the most expensive of globes out there. I also like the coloring of it.

Now _this_ is the globe I was looking for!
I didn't need the glowy stuff and I knew I liked the antique finish, and there were very few Prime/free shipping ones that fit the bill. I originally got a Replogle one with a _plastic_ base but it arrived with a cracked base and super wobbly. It would've been wobbly even without a crack I believe. I got it replaced fairly easily and paid instead for this one and it's definitely everything I wanted. The bumpy / relief stuff is awesome too. Appreciated!

Very Nice Globe, No Book and a "Replogle" Product
I am happy with my purchase, but I did not get a book with it (another reviewer mentioned a book). It was very easy to put together and has a nice wood base. From the description, I thought it was from a different company than Replogle, but it is not. This is a Replogle 12 inch diameter globe, World Classic Series....don't know where "Hastings English World Globe" comes from (it doesn't say this on the globe). It is stamped "Made in the USA and Kevin M. Dzurny, Cartographer"

Sturdy and Beautiful-- But the lines of a bit off...
I had been searching the internet and local stores for a decent globe for under $100 (I had no idea globes were so expensive). It seemed that all the globes were flimsy and cheaply made but still cost upwards of $150! I found this one and the reviews seemed promising. I must say that I am happy the globe feels so sturdy and has some weight to it! Though I am disappointed that not all the lines meet where they are suppose to.For now, it will do.

Yes the lines don't exactly match up on the joins but it isn't too bad only out by a few millimetres
Bought for a present, haven't given to them yet but its a lovely globe. Yes the lines don't exactly match up on the joins but it isn't too bad only out by a few millimetres, I expected this from all the reviews I read you need to spend twice as much to have a perfect globe. Seems sturdy and spins nicely. Love the colouring and the raised relief detail.
