review for children's book, "Breathing is my Super Power"
The beginning of the book introduces us to Sofia and her unicorn Bee. Both are 7 years old! There are some situations that Sofia finds herself experiencing different emotions. Feeling afraid at night or feeling angry in school when other kids don't play with her.The five breathing exercise is explained in the book that Sofia's mom teaches her, using her hand opened up like a star.I love how Sofia claims success with her breathing, saying breathing is my super power!!I am a psych nurse and breathing in and out, calms the body physiologically. It is such a simple skill to teach children!! I need to do it sometimes too!The artwork is very nice in this book. The book focuses on breathing while tracing your hand that Sofia's mom teaches her to breathe in and out going around each finger and thumb. There are bonus breathing exercises in the back of the book that can be helpful too. They are very creative exercises to do but simple for a child!!I like books that teach positive skills for children. i would highly recommend this book!

Nice book for young children
This has been great for my nearly 4yo grandson who has trouble identifying and expressing his feelings. He selected his favorite way to breathe. When he gets angry I model his selected method and he follows with me. Most of the time this helps to settle him. I wish these great resources had been available when I was parenting my now grown children!

Breathing is my Superpower ~ My Superpower ~ Book 2
'Breathing is My Superpower' is an exceptionally good book to read and discuss with young children. It gives young children a breathing exercise using their hand, pretending it is a star and how to use it to breathe in and out to find calm when they are upset. It was fun to read it and stop to let the group use their fingers to breathe in and breathe out and find how calm it makes them feel. It gives several other ways to have children do this with a figure eight and a square. A book that can be read and them have the children interact is a great favorite of preschool age children because it is fun for them and empowering.

Superpowers for Kids!
I chose to read this book after receiving a free e-copy from the author. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.I read Kindness is My Superpower by Alicia Ortego and thought it was a good book for children to learn the importance of kindness towards others. So, when she asked me to review this book, I was happy to.Breathing is My Superpower is another “Superpower” book that can aid parents to teach children how to be good to themselves and those around them. Sofia learns a breathing exercise from her mom, and she tries it several times: when she’s angry, upset, or feeling rejected. It works! This is a sweet book that has colorful pictures and is told in rhymes. In fact, the rhyming words are bolded at the end of each line. In the story, one breathing exercise is taught to Sofia, but at the end of the book, there are several other breathing exercises to try. This is a wonderful way for children to learn about handling emotions and stressful situations. It would be a great addition to family and school libraries.

Cute and useful, but 4/5
Love the illustrations and the overall idea behind this book. The writing itself is a bit clunky to read as the writer seemed more concerned with making sure it rhymed, but the story is cute. Pictures of exercises are helpful. There are some words that may be a bit difficult for young child comprehension such as "quite precise", and if you are in the USA you may need to change or explain words such as "cross" for angry, as we use that less often here. I love that this book has helpful breathing exercises, but I wouldn't say that the story is great for all kids. Overall it's nice, just depends on your child.

Must-have resource!
This book is a great emotional resource for kids (and adults) dealing with their overwhelming emotions. This has tips I've just learned about in my late 30's that I wish I had learned as a kid. I love the breathing flashcards at the end so the kid has a variety of easy steps to follow to process emotions and adjust mindset towards more positive things.

Perfect for adults too young and old
My daughter ,24, contracted Covid and was hospitalized for it. She is still healing but at home now. Mouth Breathing and shallow breathing were issues on and off supplemental oxygen. Read this book to her and my husband. We got a kick out of it but also learned several breathing techniques to implement during stressful moments. We even discussed which breathing exercise from the back of the book that we liked more and less and why. Great feedback and discussion. We even remind each other about our superpowers to this day.

Beautiful intro to meditation and breathing
I got this for my granddaughter who six and she absolutely loves it. Trying to teach her about calming herself down by meditating and doing some deep breathing.
