What's the Big Idea?: A Comedian Explains God, the Universe and Other Minor Stuff Paperback – November 17, 2020

This is a remarkable book, at once deeply thought-provoking and fun to read. The book is structured around Lee’s take on the answers to the most profound questions that can be posed – Is there a Creative Designer? What is he like? What should we do about it?Providing an impressive array of scientific facts about the universe, our planet, and life on our planet, he concludes the extreme intricacies suggest a designer far more than chance.Lee draws heavily from the Bible to create a profile of this designer, and draws from his experience, readings and life observations to suggest an appropriate life structure.The entire book is festooned (if I may) with light hearted cultural references and humorous asides that had me laughing out loud and sharing with my spouse – then back to another aspect of his take on the answers – then another aside… you get the picture.Two other aspects that increase the readability are Lee’s disarming honesty, and his critical view of the Church today. He only presents the information as his own take, and freely confesses to many, many foibles – this is no treatise given from on high. He is free with critical remarks about fellow Christians (ruing both hypocrites and dewy-eyed simpletons).As the result of my reading, I’ll endeavor to increase all aspects of my BOP (no spoiler alert to be provided here). I highly recommend this book.

If you have ever wondered about God, science, faith and the universe, this is the book for you. Robert G. Lee gives a crash course on creation and the love that God brings into existence. His humorous observations illuminate the truths of scientists, and theologians. His insights offer solid explanations for what we experience as we traverse our own journey of faith, grace and relationship with the Designer/Creator. If you have ever questioned God as the universal Creator, wondered if He is listening, or are curious about the “speck of dirt” we live on, pick up this book and let Robert G. Lee – self-proclaimed “smart-aleck,” comedian, and in my words, someone with deep understanding of the Bible - enlighten you and make you laugh.

Robert G. LEE leads you on a detailed analysis of how science confirms rather than denies the existence of God. He carefully and patiently examines each part of our universe and how unique our planets is and how masterfully it was created under just the perfect conditions for us. He then looks at how we perceive God and how weak we are, and how Jesus is there for us with his offer of eternity with Him if we will accept it.This is a masterful work that is further enhanced by the frequent spots of humor and his unique sarcasm. This is delightful and insightful read and I could not recommend it more highly.

This is by far the best book that I have read in 2021! On the Venn diagram of Science, Theology and Humor Robert G Lee hits this one out of the park. Very much recommend the book!

Don't know where we come from? Wonder if there's anyone else out there? Robert G Lee takes us through the creation story and more and lets us know that yes, there is someone bigger out there and He's got perfect plans , provision, purpose and lots of love.

Wonderful book that makes the biggest questions “user friendly.” Explains not only the how of our universe, but more importantly the Why. Great read especially for Millennials looking for meaning amongst the knowledge.
