The Unwinding: and other dreamings

A beautiful bond
I have been searching all the book stores I know for this book and Amazon had it. It was used but p it is beautiful. I can barely see where someone else had the book before me. It is in beautiful condition and I was extremely happy, it is a lovely story with illustrations by Jackie Morris. It is Morris’ s drawings I find so appealing. They have a certain grace. The story is a bit sad as all tales are, and to know I am holding a book someone else held before me, makes the story a treasure.

Vanitas
This is a gorgeously produced little book with beautiful illustrations. As I said it is a little book, and would be even smaller if twenty pages had not been taken up with the names of everyone who pledged support for the crowdfunding publisher. There is no 'unwinding of the soul' when faced with a great long list of people who would, along with their donation to good causes, like to see their name in print. I suggest as a future policy a separate insert or an inner book jacket could be included, that could then be discarded by the purchaser.

It soothes the troubled soul.
This is just the most extraordinarily gorgeous little book. I cannot remember being so enthralled by a book since I was a young child (so probably nigh on 50 years ago) when my Dad used to buy me beautiful picture books. The work of Jackie Morris is new to me but I am so glad that I recently stumbled across The Unwinding, it really is the most lovely little volume.I purchased both versions and whilst I do love the dream stories (which are beautifully written), The Silent Unwinding is almost more appealing in that the images mesmerise and draw you in to that world of bears and foxes, snow and silver birch. I want to see the Library of Lost Dreams and Half-Imagined Things. I want to walk with the company of wolves and rest with the bear. The Unwinding truly has magical properties. I keep both volumes in a linen bag, at the moment carrying it with me all day - I am very anxious and this book somehow soothes my troubled soul. If I could give 10 stars I would. It is so precious. I only wish that I had discovered Jackie earlier and could have had my own name in the back of this book.

Unwinding begins
Dipped into this delightful book this afternoon. Wonderful! Beautiful pictures and words of thought to get you dreaming. A delightful way to restart creativity if you’ve been in a bit of a slump like I have. A book of dreams and I’ve only just begun! Fills the heart and the head. So glad that I have a copy to dip in and out of. Unwinding begins.

Beautiful!
Amazing and beautiful images. You will not regret buying this charming and heartwarming book. It is not meant to be read from cover to cover but I did! As soon as it arrived I was engrossed and could not help myself. I will now go back and read more slowly to savour and enjoy properly as it is meant to be.Note: this copy does not have the hidden story within its covers! Still worth having and highly recommended.

well worth buying
i bought this for my daughter after reading a review of it in the i newspaper suggesting it was a good 'bedtime book' and helps sleep as she has chronic pain and finds sleep difficult. The article said to read one story a night and put the book under your pillow, so that is what she did. its early days, but it has seemed to help her, I suppose it could be that unlike a novel there is a finite end to each 'chapter' so there is closure and the mind is at rest rather than trying to work out what happens next. I write short stories myself for leisure, so I am now inspired to write some for her to read when she runs out of those in the book and before she starts to re-read them
