Fell apart after 4 weeks.
Thought this was one of the sturdier latches, but turned out to be the thin sheet steel variety. After 4 weeks the 'rivet' (ok, a pin with a tiny rivet head) fell out and the latch became useless, letting out my animals.Flimsy, poorly and cheaply made, and just not worth it if you want peace of mind that your gate will be closed properly.

Traditional straightforward gate latch
I just replaced a broken rim lock on my back gate with a proper outdoor lock which is just a lock and leaves the gate swinging if unlocked. This latch fulfills the missing function very simply. I've installed it at the top of the gate where it can be reached from the outside and is out of the reach of the grand children! Note that it does need the gate and frame to line up properly to work - my gatepost is a bit wonky but it was easy to add a shim under one of the screws to fix the problem (see my picture). Also the latch came with "self-drilling" screws which went into the (well weathered) post and gate with no need to drill pilot holes etc.
