Nice, solid, heavy-duty...heavy and slippery
I use straws to reduce mess due to clumsiness--I leave the cup in one place and move my head to the straw, so that I don't keep picking up the cup and possibly tip, slosh, or drop it.I thought thicker straws would help with thicker liquids, like smoothies, where if it's too thick a plastic straw just gives up and collapses. These are smooth, heavy, and so far easily able to cope with thick liquid and small chunks of fruit flavoring my juice.Problem: the metal is smooth and the straw is heavy, and the rim of a cup is smooth. The straw easily slides around on the smooth rim. If the cup is not on an absolutely level surface, the straw is heavy enough to slide around to face the lowest point. So if the lowest point is not toward me, it's pointing away from my mouth. Which means I have to reach over, draw the straw back, and then sip.Which means, what with the clumsiness issue, I may bump the cup and cause spillage. How distressing; reducing spillage is the whole point of the endeavor.I'm going to look into methods of trying to keep it from sliding; perhaps putting a rubber band around it at the right height, or painting the bent part (always out of the liquid, but leaning on the cup rim) with plastidip might prevent it from sliding when it should be still. It's a good product, but perhaps lighter-weight straws are better for my purpose.

Well Worth It
You would think having stainless steel straws, I would have everything. Unfortunately that is not the case and seeing as I do have them and don't have everything I want should tell you that these are worth it. Some raters said that it made their drinks colder, which I would agree. Others talk about a metallic taste, I would say nothing is coming off of the straws, but because you are sucking on metal, there is a slight metal taste. Just like if you (when you were young) sucked on a coin or older- had a nail in your mouth for a project you were doing. The convenience and reducing waste out weighs any metallic taste you may endure and I suggest if you are a smoothie or diet shake drinker to invest in these stainless steel straws. The bent straws are for the kids and less viscous drinks (juices, soda, water, etc.) and we also bought the wide version that are straight. These are great for smoothies, thick protein shakes and ice cream drinks.

Classy Looking & Environmentally Friendly!
I am Loving these straws! I feel so much better not dumping single-use plastic straws into the trash. I have been using these daily for the past month or so and they are perfect for hot and cold drinks. You can pop them in the dishwasher (which I did when I first bought them) but they really should be hand washed to ensure the insides are getting cleaned properly. I use the cleaners they came with and a little bit of dish soap to wash these out. They dry quickly and are ready for use! One word of advice: the stainless steel does retain heat more than single-use plastic straws, so be aware that if you pop this into a cup of piping hot coffee, the straw will heat up itself- careful not to burn yourself! Side note: These looks super classy on display at my coffee station :)

Reduced my straw budget and waste a ton with these metal reusable straws!
Bought these to try to cut down on our plastic disposable straw garbage. We used to go through a 100 pack of straws in about 2 months, but now we haven't bought ANY disposable straws since buying these 9 months ago. Definitely pick these up if you want to go green or at least want to stop buying things that are just destined to be thrown away.Pros:• Metal, re-usable, dishwasher safe• Comes with cleaning brushesCons:• Looks bendy but not bendy (not really a con for me, but I bet some people think they can bend)

Wash them first!
I got these so I wouldn't put so much stuff in the landfill and they are even better than I thought they would be. But be sure and wash the heck out of them before using them the first time. The manufacturing uses some kind of lubricant that tastes just awful. It comes off easily with soap. I've been washing these in the dishwasher in a mesh zipper bag on the top rack and they come out nice and my clean. These narrow straws are best for non-carbonated drinks. Drinking pop through them causes too much burp.

Use a mesh cup to wash them.
My husband is usually skeptical of my novelty kitchen items. He approves of this one. Kids LOVE these straws for water, chocolate milk, milkshakes, and smoothies. They seems to rinse clean quite well if you get to them quickly enough and don't let stuff dry on them. I love that the kids can't bite and squish the ends. I haven't had the need to run them through the dishwasher, but if I ever do, I figure I'll buy a mesh cup like people use for pencils and office supplies, and stand them up in the cup. This might even make it to my Christmas list to other relatives with kids.

... for the environment/animals - and these do the trick nicely.
My daughter will ONLY drink with straws and I wanted an alternative to the disposable - both due to cost and for the environment/animals - and these do the trick nicely.
