AP World History Review
Dr. Norell and Dr. Leidy's book, "Traveling the Silk Road: Ancient Pathway to the Modern World," gives thorough information on the Silk Road. The book starts at the Silk Road's peak during 618-907 CE. It gives examples of different areas effected by the Silk Road. Regions came into contact with each other through invasions and nomads. The book also explains how the Silk Road was a major impact on commerce. Without it, ideas wouldn't have been spread as far or fast. Language, technology, ideas, and religions were spread through the Silk Road. It lead to the emergence of the Indian Ocean Trade Route and the Sub-Saharan Trade Route. New innovations were made. Irrigation and wood-block printing changed the modern world.New innovations lead to the flourish of the Silk Road. Inns became a popular way to exchange ideas and customs. New materials were spread to different civilizations, creating globalization. Many areas used the Silk Road to grow wealthy and powerful. The book focuses on Xi'an, Turfan, Samarkand, Baghdad, and Instanbul's relation and experience with the Silk Road. The authors used more evidence than opinions in their writing. I would recommend this book if you want to expand your knowledge of the Silk Road and its influence on the modern world.

Second try to get new copy unsatifactory copy
I returned first copy because of warping of all pages and fold out maps. Second copy seems like the same copy I returned! It is also flawed. Both mailings contained no shipping papers. I am becoming frustrated with this process. The book itself is fabulous--the product is damaged.

Travelling the Silk Road
This is a physically beautiful book and a fascinating story of an area that most Americans (me!) never expect to see.

A nice little book that is a complete presentation of the museum exhibit. Didn't catch the exhibit? This won't replace what you missed.
