Very cool. Runs smoothly and looks great
The finish is matte and not the high gloss that the loco and cars look like in the pictures - so keep that in mind. But they run really smoothly and look really cool. So, as a nice mix of style on the tracks I couldn’t be happier.ALSO - I truly believe that bad reviews come from people who just don’t have the patience to work a little with small(ish) trains. Put a little time in, relax, have a steady hand and HO and OO trains will work perfectly fine.

Ran hot. Broke down within 2 months. Hornby products frequently defective. Refuses to refund.
4 of the Hornby products we purchased - for hundreds of dollars - broken down within 2 months, despite their being treated with tremendous care and caution. Shoddy workmanship. The Acela, a 5th Hornby product, was broken the day we got it and we returned it for a refund. The EuroStar always ran hot and broke down within 2 months.Hornby company has plummeted. Many of the products are defective. Moreover, we sent 4 engines back to Hornby for repair. We should have done a simple return instead. The engines got there in 4 days but then were stuck at customs for more than 4 weeks. Hornby and USPS/Parcel Force never informed us a customs payment had been slapped on them that Hornby refused to pay. Now they're supposedly heading back to the US - unrepaired - and we're told it may take a very long time.Hornby refused to issue reimbursement for $670 worth of defective trains, not including tax. They refuse to send us replacements. They say we must go through Amazon. Amazon says the return window is no longer open, even though it was open at the time we shipped the engines to the UK. Amazon just has a computer to talk to you, so you can't make it understand sense. Hornby has real people, but they don't understand sense either and can't get around their bureaucratic rules that conveniently serve their own profits.Amazon said we have to go to the manufacturer. Round and round. Asked Hornby again, and they still refuse to issue reimbursement or replacement for their 4 defective engines because we did not buy them directly from them but through Amazon. Never heard anything so absurd and so tight-fisted. They obviously earned money selling these engines to Amazon. So why can't they pay us back? Why should they keep their $670? This company makes millions and can't afford to replace 4 engines and can't afford to make operable engines.Hornby is hard-hearted, cold-fisted, and bureaucratic. Their engines are junk. Don't waste your money on Hornby. Stick with Bachmann. Their engines rarely break down and when they do, you get immensely better service. They're located in the US so you don't have to deal with UK customs and poor UK customer service.

All aboard!
I have no interest in model trains. (I have no interest in real trains either.) Derelict stations I don’t mind, and old railway lines that have been turned into cycle paths, yes. But the trains themselves? No. However, I have to admit to having more than a passing interest in the Beatles, and Yellow Submarine in particular. Why? As with most things anyone is fascinated in, it’s hard to explain. We just do.Way back in 1999, as an unusual promotion for the ‘Yellow Submarine Songtrack’ CD, Apple decided to wrap a Eurostar train in scenes from the film. That train is now available as a 00 scale model from Hornby. Though this is also available without the accessories, this particular pack comes with a power driving car, a dummy one and two passenger saloons, track and all the necessary bits and pieces to get you started and it must surely be one of the most colourful the company has produced. There isn’t much else you can really say about this except that there are two more saloon coaches to acquire separately to complete the set, which will make for a rather long train to sit on the supplied track.I don’t know how this compares on price with other 00 branded sets, but those like me who buy most things related to the group and train collectors will certainly put this on their list to send up the chimney to Santa. But remember, everything Fab Four related carries a price premium due to the special ‘Beatles Tax’.

For the money not a bad model train
Set up was easy the cars looked great!…my only disappointment was that the engine did not have a headlight…which was quite surprising considering even less expensive model trains have the headlight feature, The train ran smoothly and trouble free as all the Hornby products I have purchased over the years…a good buy…

Cars won't stay on the track
Train cars are so light and the wheels are so flimsy that the train will not stay on the track!
