NOW Foods P 5 P 50 mg with Coenzyme B 6 and Magnesium Bisglycinate has quietly become one of the most effective supplements in my daily routine. I originally bought it to help with energy and mood, but the combination in this formula delivers benefits in more areas than I expected. Within the first week, I noticed a smoother, more stable kind of energy. Not hyped up, just “I can actually start my day without dragging myself around” energy. One morning really stood out. I had barely slept, fully expecting a rough start, but after taking my usual capsule, I felt surprisingly steady and clear headed. It was the first moment I thought, “Okay, this stuff is definitely doing something.” The mood support has been even more noticeable. There were a couple of afternoons when I would normally hit my classic cranky slump, but instead I felt calm and centered. The B 6 in its active form seems to kick in reliably, and the magnesium bisglycinate helps take the edge off tension without making me sleepy. I also appreciated a smaller but very real benefit. I get mild muscle twitching sometimes when I’m stressed or dehydrated, and after a week or two on this supplement those little twitches became much less frequent. That alone felt like a win. The capsules are easy on the stomach and gentle enough to take daily. No weird aftertaste, no noticeable side effects, just consistent support that builds. If you want a supplement that helps with energy, mood, stress, muscle comfort, and overall clarity, this is an excellent choice. NOW Foods delivered a thoughtful, well balanced formula here. Truly a five star product.

[+] WHITE GLOVE REVIEW [w/ VIDEO] I use this product to reduce inflammation in my hands. In the morning, my hands started to become inflamed. They felt bloated/puffy, it was difficult to move my fingers, my joints hurt a little bit, and they were stiff (i.e., not flexible). They didn't look swollen, they just felt that way. This happened when I woke up, but then they would return to normal during the day as I became active. Sometimes I only felt the effects for 5-10 minutes, and sometimes it lasted for hours. I have a background in nutrition, so I realized this could be a symptom of systemic inflammation. I know of two good causes of systemic inflammation, which are an imbalance of Omega-3 to Omega-6's and high homocysteine levels. I tried taking extra fish oil to help balance out my Omega-3 to -6 ratio, but that didn’t help. I was already taking extra B-12 and Folate, but I was not taking extra B-6. All three are needed to regulate homocysteine levels. I started taking Now P-5-P along with B-12 and Folate. The next morning, I felt a noticeable (about 50%) improvement. I kept taking all three once a day in the evening. Each day I noticed more improvement. It took somewhere between 1-2 weeks before my symptoms were about 95% gone. Eventually, all my symptoms disappeared (I didn’t keep track of how long it took). Now, when I wake up in the morning, my hands have no discomfort and work like normal (i.e., no inflammation and perfectly flexible). [+] HOMOCYSTEINE CYCLE The important thing to note is that all three (B-6, B-12, and Folate) need to be taken. Remember, I was taking two of the three and I still experienced elevated homocysteine levels. I will include links below for the products I take. It is my opinion that the homocysteine cycle is not very well understood by nutritionists or treated properly as a cause of inflammation. You can google it to find out more about it. Also, it is likely that only an older person might experience this, but there is no reason it might not happen to a younger person as well (just not as likely). [+] USAGE I take all three once per day. The B-6 and Folate can be taken on an empty stomach. The B-12 is taken with a lozenge under the tongue. The B-6 (P-5-P) provides about 33mg. Keep in mind that the upper limit for B-6 is 100mg per day. Therefore, I take 1 or 2 per day at the most if I have symptoms, and I only take 1 per day for maintenance. There are days that I skip it all together, and I am fine as long as I do not go too long without taking the vitamins. One time I went too long (over a week) without and the inflammation started to return. I started taking the vitamins again, and the symptoms disappeared right away. The B-12 and Folate have no upper limit, so you can take more, but I have found that one per day is sufficient. Warning: This form of Folate IS NOT Folic Acid. Folic Acid does have an upper limit and ingesting too much Folic Acid in foods or supplements can be problematic as noted by some studies. It is worth noting that I also take a high-quality multi-vitamin, which contains B-6, B-12 and Folic Acid. As we age, there are some situations where a therapeutic dose might be needed, which means that the amounts in the multi-vitamin are not enough. It’s not that the multi-vitamin has an incorrect dose; it’s that my needs require a higher dose for these three vitamins. I've had trigger thumb for a couple years now and it's gotten progressively worse. I did the cortisone shot for about $150-$200 and it worked great......but it wore off in about 7-8 months. I was going to do it again and the doctors that were in my network didn't feel comfortable injecting joints, so I did some research and came across this stuff. I figured for $10 I would give it a shot, if it didn't work, no big deal. I started off taking it in the morning and at night (when my thumb would usually be at its worst). Initially, I didn't notice any change, so I started taking it three times a day. Not sure if it was the extra dose or just the time it needed to get going in my system, but my thumb doesn't lock up anymore! I don't even think about it now, whereas in the past, I always knew not to bend it in the morning unless I wanted some pain. I also don't have the tenderness at the base of my thumb anymore where the nodule was/is. One bottle lasts me a month, so I figure the cost of this treatment is less than the cortisone route (and even if I were able to do that, the doctors would eventually stop injecting in that joint anyway for fear of permanent damage). I'm sure there are other benefits that I'm getting as well in relation to other joints and inflammation, but I haven't really had issues in that department. In my exhaustive research for this kind of treatment, this brand kept appearing as one of the best in quality and efficacy. I haven't tried any of the other brands but based on my personal results, I'll be using this one.

On June 2nd my thumb stated locking and popping. It was quite painful. A few weeks later the thumb remained locked in the open position. I could move the thumb at the base, but could not flex it at the joint near the nail. Using my left (non dominant) hand was generally fine. However, I was unable to use my left hand in tugging motions like pulling up my socks, wrapping the elastic around my pony tail, and when lifting heavy items I had to be extremely careful. The sharp pain could come out of the blue. Just days before the first steroid shot the pain ended and I could confidently use my left hand even though I could not bend my thumb. The injection at the end of July did not help. The second shot at the end of August did not help. A couple days later I started taking one of these supplements every day. The next step was to be surgery at the end of September. I had already decided not to move forward with the surgery since my activities were in no way limited and I was not in pain. Three weeks after the second injection and the start of these supplements my thumb was able to bend. I noticed it in the car on my way home from running errands yesterday. It still locks and pops- but without pain. The locking is less pronounced as the day goes on. When I first woke up flexing the thumb was much more difficult- but not impossible. So there still is a bit of an issue. But it has been 24 hours and I can still bend my thumb. I take this as a positive sign since I have not managed this movement for the past three months. Was it the supplements? I have no idea. Trigger thumb can resolve itself without any intervention. But mine started three and a half months ago. I also had two steroid shots. I was told that if they were going to work that it would happen in about 24 hours. Well it has been three weeks since the last one. So maybe it was the supplements, maybe not. But for the small investment it would be worth giving these pills a try.
