I am a picky reader. I do not necessarily enjoy novels, and I am EXTREMELY picky about picking books to read. I purchased this for a beach trip since I needed to read something on the beach. I was hesitant because I have such a hard time finding books I truly cannot put down. I am an anatomy nerd and seriously, when I tell you this book hit all the spots, I MEAN IT!! Bryson breaks it down by body system and describes each organ and body system in a way that makes it exciting and fun to learn about the body. It is not textbook like at ALL, and even with some history thrown in too, the author words all these concepts and events in such a way where I could not put it down. SO engaging and amazing to read. I had a 7 day vacation and finished it in 4 days. After reading, I had so many fun facts that my family was annoyed with me for sharing so many fun facts I learned from this book alone. Truly a masterpiece. I have never read something so engaging. This book led me to begin finding more books about anatomy, and I have yet to find one written in such a way. Brilliant.

Fascinating and funny - Bryson does it again with a fact filled amusing but easy to understand delve into the human body.
