Stockfisch 1 / Various

First off, I LOVE Stockfisch recordings! I own all their CDs and several LPs and they are all spectacular! I was intrigued by the philosophy behind this this offering, so I ordered. Sadly, it didn't come close to the original digital offerings. Some may like this but my guess is they will be in the minority. So, buy any/all Stockfisch recordings and I'm sure you'll be pleased, but wait on this one.

Stockfisch always delivers on the Sound Quality but this SACD Hybrid raises the bar several notches. Most of the music doesn’t disappoint either and is in the Stockfisch family of Vocal and Acoustic Guitar oriented arrangements.

You need to be careful when purchasing the Stockfisch compilation CD's as some tracks are duplicated. Sound quality however is just superb and your "normal" Redbook CD's will sound thin in comparison. Lovely rich tone to the new DMN-CD release, vocals sound as though the singer is in the room with you and every detail of the track is clear as a bell. And this is just on the CD layer, not the SACD.This release has introduced me to some excellent singer-songwriters who I wasn't aware of and I'll now be tracking down their albums, although they're not cheap on the Stockfisch label!

I have some of these tracks on other CDs. These tracks sound much better using their new technology. Highly Recommended.

SACD in Papphülle ohne Booklet ist etwas dürftig für den Preis und das Anspruchsniveau. Durch das besondere Aufnahmeverfahren klingt die SACD sehr natürlich. Die ausgewählten Musiktitel sind nicht schlecht, aber vom Hocker holen sie mich nicht. Die instrumentale Untermalung ist sehr zurückhaltend. Hier hätte ich mir mehr gewünscht, um Klang technisch dieses besondere Aufnahmeverfahren mit mehr Klangfülle anzureichern damit auch Hi-End-Anlagen, wie mein Marantz PM10 sich voll entfalten können. Das in den Lehrlaufspuren ab und zu mal ein leiser oder auch lauter Knackser zu hören ist enttäuscht mich. Hier hat der Tontechniker beim digitalen Mastering geschlafen, sonst hätte er die Knackser herausgefiltert. Für den Preis und den Anspruch ist das nicht akzeptabel.

Il disco è una specie di sampler delle varie compilation Stockfisch, con però una variante. Nel corso del transfer in DSD per ottenere il SACD, prima del mastering, è stato inciso tramite un tornio Neumann su disco metallico ed immediatamente letto da una testina EMT. Una sorta di processo di analogicizzazione del segnale digitale effettuata con apparati al top. Il risultato si sente, è interessante, ma resta un esperimento. Secondo me le compilation "full DSD" senza passaggi in analogico, suonano meglio. Da provare per capire quanto è elevata la qualità del suono DSD/SACD.

Schöne Titel, toller Klang!Schade, dass es vor, zwischen und nach den Titeln teilweise richtig laut knackt. Am Anfang hört man z.B. ganz deutlich, wie die Nadel in die Rille abgesenkt wird. Aber auch während der Titel hört man die typischen Laugeräusche einer - wenn auch sehr guten - LP.Was mir unverständlich ist, ist die Tatsache, dass bei manchen Titeln der Nachhall am Ende des Stückes noch ein 2. Mal zu hören ist, als wenn man die letzten 4 sec des Stückes einfach nochmals drangehängt hätte.
