How do I balance the sound so that the earpieces have and equal sound?

After having the same issue myself, fault could also be a loose cable on of the earpieces. I just let a friend of mine who is into electronics fix it for me. He had to do it twice since there is not a protection to keep the cable in place and could be pulled out (hard pull, my case I tripped over the wire while on my head). He used a tiewrap inside of the “earpods” to hold the cable in place and could not be pulled out of the “earpods”. Handy tip to extend the longivity of the headphone. Using it since 2014 and still loving it. I also use a ATH-M50 wich is comparable only I find the M50 has slight more output.

Are these good for Mixing/Mastering?

In my opinion, 100% yes given a quiet room. They are semi open so some ambient sounds can be heard if loud enough. Are they the BEST headphones for mixing/mastering, nope. Ultimately monitors would be the best solution, but if you're in an apartment or want an alternative sound source to compare with, these are great considering the 60ish price I paid.

Would these headphones work with the tisino 1/4 inch male to female stereo extension adapter?

Yes, both 1/4, and 1/8 will work.
