A true timeless classic
I don't normally review the classics, as quite often their reputations speak for themselves (and the hundreds of others who have reviewed before me have covered it all already). But I feel compelled to post this today after hearing of the passing of the true legend that is Judith Kerr.In The Tiger Who Came to Tea (and Mog etc) she leaves a legacy that means she'll never be forgotten in the literary world. I adore many children's books but this is the one that I always think of the most fondly. It was one of my own favourites as a child, it has been a favourite of all 3 of my own children and it's still to this day one of my favourites to share with nursery/Reception age children.A timeless classic to treasure generation after generation. It doesn't surprise me it has been one of the nation's favourites for 50 years now. RIP Judith Kerr.

Perfect!
Easy to follow for a 2 year old who still is very intrigued by the colours and the illustrations in this book. Nicely written and loads of magic. So very happy I bought this book. It's one of her favourites.

Superb classic, loved by my children and grandchildren!
I love reading this to our 2 year old grandchild. She loves hearing it and apparently so do her dolls and bears. The book is ideal as a gift or as an addition to a child's book collection. The pictures are clear, with lots to discuss and notice and the text is just perfect, again, lots to talk about and have fun with. An essential part of a child's early education - especially the fun part!

The illustrations are charming and simple and the size of the book is good to capture the gaze of kids
I was always jealous of people who had this book when I was a kid, so I bought it to read to my daughter. There is a lovely sense of nostalgia in the book (a milkman? The grocer boy?) but also a bit of "daddy works and mummy cooks the dinner". It's ok though-just a product of the time it was written. The illustrations are charming and simple and the size of the book is good to capture the gaze of kids. The length is good for baby bed time too.

Spoiler alert, that is one greedy Tiger!
Who would have know that a Tiger would put away so much food, although I think his table manners could be worked on a little! We brought this book for our 2 year old who loved the little animated film that they made for Channel 4. As he loves books too we thought this would fit right into his collection and he love to roar like a tiger when ever we get this one out to read.
