This is the second time I have purchased this exact OC Spray. I normally keep it stashed in the front pocket of my running vest in case I get chased by a dog. If I know I’m approaching the vicinity of an aggressive dog I will preemptively have it strapped in my hand ready to go. I have only had to use it once and it was extremely effective. The gel shot out without spraying a mist (a worry while outside in case the wind whips it back in my direction) and was a straight solid shot at the dog. He immediately backed away and was deterred any further.The OC spray is compact and very simple to use. Fits right in my hand perfectly with my thumb able to activate the spray. The strap around your hand is Velcro adjustable. Only one complaint is with it being in my front mesh stretchy pocket of my vest, on occasion the safety switch gets turned so when I pull it out the nozzle opening is already exposed leading to a potential misfire in my pocket or elsewhere. I am constantly double checking to make sure it is in the safety position and not moved. It would be good to have this maybe “click” into place a little stiffer so it doesn’t accidentally deploy.Overall extremely pleased with the purchase and wish they made slightly cheaper “refills” in maybe multi-packs where I can just purchase the canister as my elastic strap is still able to be used.

i havent tested this on a live living animal.* and hopefully wont have to. the spray stream is adequate and sprays quite thickly, i would hate to be on the receiving end of this.i like the runners hand strap, it helps to keep a nice grip on it.*the turn and lock button spigot doesn't activate as quickly and efficiently as i want it to, i had to press considerably hard to activate it.the price was great, under 10 dollars.Update.I used this one time on a large sized dog. it quickly turned away , rolled it head in the grass. that diffused the situation with the least amount of force. the product worked as intended.the hand strap.. i was really liking it for awhile, its somewhat comfortable in the hand. but the handstrap is flawed. its made of cheap nylon, the bottom part of it broke. the way the handstrap is set up is not Ambidextrous. you have to adjust the nozzle spray direction if you change hands.. that is a huge inconvenience. i don't have time to fidget around with the product. i need it ready to go in 1 second.I dont think i would buy this product again.. i might try a different product with an improved grip. and also the fast flip top feature.i'm going to decrease the rating 1 star. its a fine product, but the spray performance, usability in the dark, the grip, and other features need a big improvement.
