at full extension what is the height reached?

The full extension lift is 80 inches. From the floor to the saddle on top. Hope this helps. I have used it a lot and it is good.

How is this made/assembled? I need it a little shorter due to my lift height restriction. Can either end be cut? Cut and re-threaded?

Yes, it would be possible to cut out a section of the bottom portion. I would reuse the top portion were the bearing surface rests. The top portion easily pulls out and has a acme thread. It would require some welding. I would suggest to look for a shorter version which should be available. The stand works great.
