China Rich Girlfriend

Sooo interesting!
Though I prefer the first book, this was still a solid continuation of the series.Did you think that Crazy Rich Asians was over the top with the extravagant displays of wealth? Well, buckle on in! The constant description of palatial homes and couture clothes got to be exhausting after the ninth shopping trip. (I know it's necessary for the satire, but my point still stands.)I enjoyed how Kevin Kwan expanded upon the scope of his first novel, showing us the wild lives of Hong Kong and Shanghai's elite. Unfortunately, this also came with so many new POVs and storylines to follow that rarely intersected. Rachel and Nick didn't seem like the main characters of their own story.I will say that the last 100 pages almost made up for the relatively boring first 3/4 of the novel. I actually started this three times before I finally got into it. However, nearing the end, the stakes were raised and these storylines more or less came together. There were mysteries! Drama! Intrigue! Romance! My favorite things. Except it came together a bit too quickly in comparison to the rest of this drawn-out book. (I'm still 100% picking up the next book because I am very invested in the lives of Rachel, Nick, and Astrid. Also, I need to check up on Kitty Pong.)If you enjoyed the first book, I'd definitely recommend picking this up! Despite my criticisms, I had quite a lot of fun galavanting around the world in this novel.

Enjoyed the read
Entertaining while offering interesting insight into Singapore‘s and surrounding history and culture, really enjoyed this as well as the other two books of Kevin Kwan‘s trilogy

Not as good as the first book of the trilogy
I enjoyed reading the first book of the trilogy which made me look forward to reading the other two books to see how the story unfolds, but found the second book below-par and lacklustre. The author throws in too many of these designer brand names which made it such a snoozefest to read. I get it that the author wants to paint the picture of just how rich these people are but found it too overdone. I didn't find the comedy as funny as the first book. I was more interested in Astrid's storyline than what was happening in Rachel's life. I think the story could've striked comedy gold if the author had focused the storyline on how Rachel tries to get along with her new mother-in-law Eleanor Young (perhaps this will be in the third book?). I hope the third book is better.

Not as good as the first one or the third one
Mediocre middle book. Rachel and Nick are hardly in it. Focuses on other b-rate characters. Yes it’s nice to read to know more about Rachel but she’s basically a side character. Astrid is barely in it and Peik Lin is no where to be seen!I’m now reading the 3rd and half way through it’s sooooo much better than the second one!My advise is, if you loved the first one, get through this one and treat yourself with the 3rd one!

Part 2 of delicious gossip awaits
Another wonderful swoop into the lives of the rich and fabulous. A slightly different focus to the first in the trilogy - this time we are primarily considering the wealth and excess in mainland China. The same deliciously gossipy read awaits all who enter. Despite that, this is possibly my least favourite of the trilogy - although I really wish we'd had more of Rachel's family in the finale to tie up more of the loose ends started in this novel.

Tiny print
Cannot read the book as the print is tiny and I have ageing eyesight. Have now downloaded the Kindle version as what I have managed to struggle through so far is interesting and engaging. It is quite complicated to get into but I think will be good ... will amend this review once I have managed to actually read it!

ok-but first book was better
I could not wait to start reading the book once i finished the first book. however, till almost at the end of the book i realised that was it. there was hardly a climax but only the clicheed version of the rich people. moreover, i was dissapointed as Astrid was my favourite character and barely in there. it was fun though and a nice entertaining book for a quick read.
