Is this useful for a 12 year old girl to learn how to improve her swing?

This question is best answered by a professional. However, I do believe that just concentrating on a swing that is inside out leaves much less of a chance of the left wrist breaking down. That seemed to be true in my case and eliminated the need for the brace. Hope this helps.

Not sure which product you are looking at. The picture is a wrist band, I ordered and receive an arm band which is what I reviewed. If you are looking at the arm band, yes it is universal. However, someone with big arms may feel it's a little bit too tight. I does stretch.
