It’s massive. Don’t be fooled about how big this is…
First things first, this thing is huge. I was used to a 7” display and thought that was ample. I almost didn’t buy this stereo as I thought it would be too big, but then I thought “what if….?”It boots up quickly, is responsive and the touchscreen is great. The resolution isn’t the best, but given that it’s for a car radio and not watching UHD films on, it is perfectly fine. The stock launcher is a bit rubbish though - I downloaded a different one and paid a massive £1.69 for the pro version, and it has improved it greatly. The Wi-fi is good and connects to my iPhone’s hotspot every time (when I remember to turn it in…) and stays connected. The 1gb of RAM sometimes can cause a bit of lag, especially after it has just turned on, but once it has fully loaded up you don’t notice. It handles split screen fairly well, and can manage the RadioX app and google maps/waze running at the same time with ease. Some apps don’t support split screen, but it does tell you. TURN OFF the picture-in-picture for google maps though as the little overlay gets in the way when you’re trying to split the screens (and it’s too small to see anyway). The sound quality is good via Bluetooth. When the volume is turned up however there is a whine that can be heard - anyone who’s used a phone/electronic device through a speaker system before will know what I mean (something to do with the frequency of the power it uses by being on that generates a tone - a physicist will explain it to you I’m sure) - it’s only noticeable when the volume is up and there’s no other sound being played by the stereo.Buttons are good and work every time so far. Steering wheel controls work too after you wire it up (every car is different, google it to work out how to connect yours). It is a big android tablet that is in your car, that can handle calls while you’re driving. It has the play store, but as it’s only running android 9.1 there’s only so many apps you can download. I’ve downloaded a few apk files and i stalled them - some work, some don’t. That’s to be expected.Overall I’d say it’s great and I like it. I’ve also bought a CarPlay/Auto usb dongle for it (which also works really well on it). If you’re in the “ooh would it be too big” camp, buy it and then worry about how big it is later - you maybe/probably might not regret it. I didn’t. Perhaps.
