I used the smaller pan to check out some creek gravel. Unfortunately, I did not find gold in the pan, but the process was easy with the ripples on the pan edges. The plastic pans are lighter than the older metal pans which is good.Got the gold fever after finding gold on an Alaskan trip. The area that I live in is glacier spread gold so not likely going to find large nuggets.The lower cost of this kit was a good place to give it a try. A road nearby is named "Gold Creek Road" and I have a friend close by it that has a creek the feeds.

decent materials and construction, I do wish it all fitted together a little better for compact transport but it's a good set! would recommend =)

Good sturdy set. Bought it to try out panning just for the fun of it.

Everything you need to start a new hobby! Pretty good quality stuff....My son really enjoys the time we spend trying, and failing thus far, to strike it rich!!Pretty all inclusive, and the light, green pans make panning easy..Even includes a black sand magnet!

This Kit has all the tools needed for the experience of gold panning. All the tools included work and will help any new to planning learn the process of panning. If you watch one videos and learn what you need to do to pan then this kit will allow you to practice.I will say that the kit is small and it does not allow you to work much material, so it would take you a long time to process 5 gallons of raw material. You will need to invest in larger diameter pans after you get a feel for panning. It is nice to have a small pan but the pans themselves are made from a hard plastic and will most likely crack in time with any about of use or if you stepped on it. Really nice pans are metal or a somewhat flexible plastic.If you are trying to really get started with panning as more then a beach activity you will want invest in bigger pans.
