Espresso is be brewed between 7 to 9 bars of pressure. The Brikka will brew coffee under pressures of up to 2 bars (traditional pots go up to maybe 1.5 bars). You won't get a true espresso crema without that pressure. That being said, this product is well built (although the black plastic handle seems delicate) and brews coffee beautifully. To address some common issues I've read about... - it WON'T make a mess provided you don't overfill the moka pot past the marked line on the water reservoir - it WON'T burn the coffee provided you use boiling water in the water reservoir to speed up the brew process. Yes, it's an aluminum pot and aluminum is a great thermal conductor. It's very possible that if you're heating the water from ambient temperatures, you might be cooking your coffee grounds in the process. Consider a stainless steel moka pot if you'd rather heat the pot from ambient temperatures (it will probably be easier to clean too). To conclude, this is a nice product capable of producing lovely moka pot espresso. In my experience, the right amount of pre-boiled water and a full coffee basket (without tamping the coffee) produces delicious coffee with good oil extraction. Again, the visible crema won't be that of your local coffee shop espresso.

Probably the best moka coffee I've ever bought, shame it's not in stock anymore. Full bodied, intense, but not overly bitter. From an italian, how moka coffee should taste

I got the Bialetti Venus when I moved into our airstream travel trailer, hoping to save some space and get rid of my small espresso machine. I ended up keeping the espresso machine, since the coffee tastes considerably different with each method. I really like the way the coffee tastes from the Bialetti, but it's definitely more of coffee taste and not espresso taste. I'm no coffee expert, but I still really love the taste of the coffee in both my espresso machine, and the Bialetti. I should have gotten a bigger size, as the 4 cup makes a tiny cup. It's enough for one person, but I can definitely make a second and not have too much coffee. It is great on saving space, and I'll probably buy the larger size and put this one in my camping gear. I love that it works on our induction cooktop, and it seems very well constructed. It's easy to clean when it needs it, but I guess a lot of people say it tastes better when you don't. Good little coffee maker!
