Yes this works for the Rubbermaid backpack vacuums I have many of them and uses this system.

Q: Will this fit with the Hoover c2401?

this product is a after market made for pro team commercial vacuum.

Q: Can I buy just the carpet attachment without the s wand ?

U should, look it up as wand attachment for....., not wand.

Q: is there a way to use this with my Kenmore canister? (its a 1 1/4")

You'd need an adapter to get it to work. This won't work with 1.25" diameter as is.
