Great for repeating (looping) display
I just received this product. I purchased it to display .mp4 video files on a TV in our customer service lobby, one at a time. I wanted a player that would auto play video and endlessly repeat it, even after a power disruption. Video will be generated from Premiere or by saving PowerPoint presentations as .mp4.This media player is exactly what I wanted. Enable three options in the settings; Auto Play, Cyclic Mode, and Video Resume, and the video automatically plays upon inserting an SD card, and it will repeat endlessly. After removing power, unplugging the power supply, and restoring power, the video automatically plays again.Changing video requires only pressing one button on the media player itself and changing SD card. The new video automatically plays. The remote is not even needed for this. The video quality is very good in 4k and HD on monitor or TV via HDMI. Quality is very good via VGA too.Assuming the product is reliable, this is exactly what I needed.

Works Great!
2 tried using my 2TB hard drive on the older version of this player and it didn't work, while this one truly reads my WD Elements 2 TB drive with no problem, i had an even older version from Micca that also worked somewhat but not on ever movie format. So i am very happy with THIS ONE and would recommend it. We use it when traveling in our Motorhome to watch my Movie library, at home i use Nvidea Shield for it but that also cost about $200 vs the $60 for this one, which is not as detailed as the Nvidea but truly serves it's purpose. Just buy iy, it works great!

Easy to use, and great quality
The AGPTEK 1080P Media Player was recommended to me a few years ago by an ex-colleague, but at the time I just thought it would be just another device that I would buy and it would sit in a cupboard unused. I was so wrong.I recently bought a new car and it has a rear screen for rear seat passengers to watch movie files. For months I'd had the car but not been able to play movies because I thought I needed a dedicated laptop stuck in the back of the car to feed movies to the screen via the USB. Then aI thought, what about the AGPTEK media player? I checked out the player on Amazon, then contacted AGPTEK about the power supply....thinking they would take weeks/months to reply. Wrong! They replied the same day, and I ordered what I needed from Amazon. Boom! We can now play movies in the car! We can also load up movies onto an SD card and watch them without having to hook up a laptop or an extended hard drive. It massively saves on wear and tear of both laptop and extended hard drive, and I am really pleased with the product and with AGPTEK's customer service.

UPDATED: Good, but a few more improvements would make it really good
2nd UPDATE:This update is regarding surround sound capability of the device. I MADE A MISTAKE. This will play full surround sound. What I did was I ran my HDMI cable directly into my surround sound receiver as i do with my bluray player and other 5.1 audio capable devices. The out HDMI of the receive goes to the TV. The sound is processed through the receiver and passed on to the TV. This unit did not pass-through the 5.1 sound It did to some degree, but was very washed out. Not good. I tried everything and every setting. You have to do the older fashioned way. I connected an optical cable to the unit and to the receiver and made the appropriate settings. No sound. Both optical and HDMI running through the receiver would not work. I had to run the HDMI directly to the TV bypassing the receiver. I then ran the optical connection to the receiver. Separated sound and video from the receiver. It worked great. Once more for those of you who like the added fun of surround sound 5.1 with you movies. 1. HDMI directly to the TV. 2. Optical to the receiver. Make the appropriate settings in both the receiver and the AGPtek unit and viola..... Great sound....------------------------------------------------------UPDATE:I should have done my home work better before purchasing this player. I play my movies through a receiver for 5.1 sound. I cannot do that with this one. There is NO HDMI Pass-through like my old WDL had. It does have an optical connector, but i cannot get it work. YET anyways. Hopefully someone out there will post "how to." It is not a bust. It plays well, but only sound is through my TV. Disappointing. So if you are someone who wants to watch movies in surround your out of luck, but again, i may not know how to do that with this player. Hopefully someone smarter then i can post how to. 35.00 bucks for a general player..... Good deal. But not so good if you want a little higher end sound with your video.......First off this is not a negative review even though i give it 4 stars. For 35.00, i mean, come on. This is a nice media player considering all things..... I have been using a WDL player (Western Digital Live) for years, but i think i am wearing it out. There are not many options out there, and for 35.00 it was worth a shot. These are things i would like to see, if i am not asking too much....-What about settings. Will it retain your settings if you lose power or have to temporarily unplug it?-I use an external portable HDD. USB. How do i release it, or eject it so that i do not damage the files in it or the HDD itself?? IFF someone knows i would sure appreciate a "comment on "how to". Thanks.....-Can i program a Harmony Remote to see it??-Will it play a full DVD file, or do i need to go into the DVD folder and find the vob file? or can i click on the IFO file which normally starts playing the DVD Video? I do know that you can use some great little 3rd party programs like "Make MKV." Works very slick and only "remuxes" the DVD to a MKV very quickly. AND it's freeware to use. There are probably a couple of more things i could add to the list, but again, overall for 35.00 it seems to work pretty good. SUPPORT. How do you contact support? Do they actually answer?? If anyone knows please let me know. Thank you.....

limited file sizes and formats, will crash repeatedly
glitchy, low RAM, unable to load or display larger photos or videos. Doesn't work with many modern image or video formats. It is good enough - but it sucks. If you can use your laptop, it's better to use a laptop.only reason I bought this was to avoid having my laptop stolen or damaged. Would rather lose a $40 media player than a laptop with personal data.but this thing is so awful that you have to test it out thoroughly and experiment with all your files to make sure they work.if you have an unsupported or too large photo, the slideshow will crash when it gets to that file. Then you have to restart the device and select the correct video output settings each time.It also defaults to a strange setting with a very orange tinted output, making it hard to see at night when changing menu settings.overall, if I knew this beforehand, I would've spent more money for a nicer product or just gotten a second laptop that I don't worry about being damaged or stolen. If I have to spend $80 for a media player, why not get a cheap laptop for $120? So that's what I'll probably end up doing. Much simpler and more useful, dollar for dollar.
