They are waterstones for curved blades...
It's for sharpening curved blades, it works well though I am still working on my technique for curved knives. I've only used the #220 once but it grinds quick. Only one of my knives was beat up enough to start on this one instead of the #1000. I've only got a few curved tools, but it pretty much performed as expected, which is roughly the same as naniwa lobster waterstones, their budget line, but still plenty good enough for my curved knives which aren't made out of whatever crazy hard metals. I've no idea how to sharpen a blade that curves inwards on a flat stone. If there is a technique that can do that properly it is a complete mystery to me. These require soaking before use but they're so small it hardly takes any time at all to soak/dry.

Exceptional customer service
I am writing this review as good faith with my order. My previous order seems to be still in shipping, when I contacted A-STYLE JAPAN I let them know I understood the shipping process from international countries, along with the current covid19 in China shipping policies may have changed delaying packages. But the response was extraordinary they offered to resend or refund my product, even though I expected a week or so for remaining shipping. Because I understand the time frame it takes not only did I put my full faith in A-style japan I ordered an additional stone at a higher grade. These stones have the perfect concave convex curves for my curved blade as well as my wife's curved shears she uses for grooming. I can't wait to have these stones just primarily for my Spyderco, I have used the Spyderco knife sharpener 100$ which takes far to long in sharpening, I have tried the laskey guided sharpening system on my blade. Both were not creating an edge with over an hour of sharpening. But not even 5 mins of using a professional sharpeners stone of this style got the edge exactly to what I needed it to be. Which is why I chose to order these stones. Even with the short time I got to actually use one of these stones I would definitely recommend to anyone with a curved blade and having trouble getting it to Apex.

Perfect for my use
Using to dress Diamond Matrix stones from Veneve and Columbia Gorge. Typical Naniwa High Quality. Highly recomended as a dressing stone! KnifeMaker

Perfect for pool plaster
It may not be exactly what it was designed for but it did a great job of sanding down some rough areas of pool plaster after my pool had been refinished. The plasterers didn't do a great job with the finish but this worked perfectly for smoothing the rough areas

Good stone
Good stone for hawkbill knives.

This is more of a cutting stone than a sharpening stone so although it might be suitable for lawnmower blades and hedge clippers, it is too aggressive for knives. Machette - YES Chef's Knife - NO It breaks down easily so don't expect it to last like a standard whetstone. A good match for a gardener to throw in his tool box. A bad choice for resharpening used razor blades.

鎌用に買いましたが使い方が悪いのか、刃が出ません。砥石が削れるばかり。低速グラインダーで試してみようと思います。

I’m a professional sharpener, these curved stones are perfect for curved scissors sharpening by refinishing the “ride line” with the curved edge The trick is to wrap a piece of electrical tape around a portion of the stone. By placing this on the back of the blade so you can de burr the front ride line after sharpening on the Twice as Sharp the Hira-To or similar machines without taking metal off the rear of the shear’s blade.

I purchased both this one and the 1000. I’ll probably end up purchasing the 3000 too. These are fantastic quality stones and absolutely perfect for secateur sharpening. I’m so happy I found these and able to get them at such a reasonable cost! I’ve also since used them for honing other items and found them extremely effective!
