LCD screen sucks
Over all I think that this is a nice little NAS. Although I would not want to use it with more than two drives. The biggest thing that bugs me is that after a week that the LCD screen is basically useless. I press the buttons to change the different screens, but the image from the screen of the drive space utilization is burnt in. And as I change from one screen to the next, reminants of the previous screens stay on the display. I have tried shutting down the entire device and disconnecting the power, but the display appears to be permanently damaged. On a side note, I have not seen an option of creating a copy of the micro-SSD card that was sent. Wondering what is going to happen if this card dies. Looked on their website and have not found where I can download a back up image. Will try hooking up a monitor and keyboard to it to see if I can use a command line utility.

Very easy to put together. Doesnt feel cheap when its fully assembled. The pi Hat works well and gives enough info but I dont really use it. Its neat but I dont need it. I have a 2TB laptop hd plugged into the bototm. It would have been nice for them to offer a dual HD version in case someone wanted some redundancy. Overall, well worth the small amount they ask.One issue though, OpenMediaVault that is installed on the microsd which comes with it, has issues. Weird errors here and there. I run OMV on a real NAS and have seen stuff like this before. I'm in the process of doing an upgrade to see if that addresses the issue. If not, I'll need to fresh install it.

Software failed.
Tried to do some config from the Web management interface (start ssh) and got "Failed to execute command 'export PATH=/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin; export LANG=C.UTF-8; omv-s..." obviously not sending it back, but... I'll see what I can come up with. But without ssh, there's not much of a way to come up with anything....

Overall is a good concept of a product
It’s a good concept and it was working as intended but the screen stopped working and the fans started to work erratic

Does not work as expected for us and Zilch support from Sunfounder thus far...
I first tried to purchase this product directly from the Sunfounder Site, but the 30% code they sent me would not work the first time. They did sent me a second one, but had issues with that one also. From that moment on, no matter how many times I emailed them requesting assistance, I never heard from them again! I wanted to use this product as prototype for an IoT course at a college with the intent of purchasing many more if the solution worked as advertised. The organization I served purchased the unit through Amazon and we got to give it trial run. To date we cannot consistently mount drives SSD or otherwise nor save OMV configuration. I sent sun-founder a request for support and again no response whatsoever. We understand that OMV is not a product from their organization, but our inquiry should at least be addressed even if from a hardware perspective. At this point and time, based on the potential need for assistance and lack of response from Sunfounder, I highly recommend you stay away from this product unless of course you are a skillful IT tech, who can easily figure out the many quirks we've found thus far with this unit.Sunfounder, we really wanted to love your product, but there is such a thing as also providing timely customer support, and from the onset, it seems you are considerably lacking in this regard. Hope you change your approach, because you do put out some very interesting solutions.Update April 2020: My problem has been resolved. Therefore, I am updating my initial review from the “everyone deserves a second change” perspective. Over the past months I have been in communication with a different Sunfounder rep, and regardless of the time it took, this rep was markedly more communicative and responsive. To correct the issue, she sent me a new unit, and then followed up to make sure I (a) received it and (b) that it worked to according to expectations. The replacement did functioned out of the box as expected.Regardless of my experience, this is an awesome product for those seeking a home or small office NAS solution. Therefore, I do recommend the product, and hope that my experience was just an atypical situation with the vendor.

Not good.
No power to the hat. No display, no fans, no support. This is not great.

HAT does not work
Right out of the Box, the Sunfounder Company only sent an 8GB SD Card. Online shows that 16-32GB is required to run OpenMediaVault. Sadly the HAT has no Power and the SD Card failed in many areas during setup. The Terminal said the Pi 4 requires newer Software to use on a Pi 4.I had to manually install Raspbian OS and also OpenMediaVault without any help from SunfounderAs of 1/26/21, I have yet to get the HAT to work. My Son gave this as a gift on Christmas of 2020.Do not buy this product. You can get a Pi 4 by itself and install it in a nice case that has working fans and lcd display. I do not recommend. Because I got this item as a gift, sunfounder is not responding to my emails to fix the HAT problem. I did in fact put this into another case and have my own NAS running. DO NOT BUY

Total junk
Bought it off from their site same kit. The material cost is no more than $10 and the are charging over $50 for this. The software that comes in SD card won’t run on updated eeprom pi 4 8 gb. Email them on separate installation information. Got a git link to a 2 yrs old project ran the python script and it only shows flashing LED. Better off getting some rack case and sata adapter would save a lot of headaches.
