VANGUARD VGSSB-1025AL Brushed Aluminum OE Style Running Boards | Compatible with 14-18 BMW X5

The quality of this product is not OEM or OEM like, it is a cheaper knock off. I was able to install this running board system however the plastic mold of the new reinforcement piece and specifically the holes and their alignment with the vehicles mounting screws were completely off and did not align. This caused the new reinforcement piece to be out of alignment along the side of the vehicle. I have included photos showing the original and new alignment issues.I am very experienced at working with different types of materials and I ended up adjusting the plastic reinforcement piece by levering it into place. However, the even though this helped with the edge alignment it was still out of alignment causing issue with the final positioning of the runner boards where the clearance between the bottom of the door is right up against the runner board treads. (See Photos of before during and after install) Note that the plastic is warped and the bolts do not line up. I had to force and bent the plastic into place.Also note that the side impact sensor mounting clip/clasp di not work and I had to set these into the space provided using black silicone. There were also inadequate replacement clips provided.I'll probably end up having to replace these with real OEM parts.

Box seems to haben been opened before.Missing all mounting hardware.Parts are completely made out of plastic and not as advertised high grade aluminum. To be fair that could almost be expected judging by the price. Still wrong advertising.Very sloppy finish on the plastic parts. Clearly visible mating lines, the board are not made out of one part the whole length. Rough surface on Some parts of the plasticEven the support underneath that is supposed to hold your weight when you step on it, is made out of plastic that I could easily bend. It might be more stable once mounted but i didn’t even get so far.The only metal looking piece is the silver strip on top. This strip is also not flush mounted. Both running boards had a small gap on the front.Most likely not terrible visible but shows the carelessness they where assembled.NOTHINGS on it says “VANGUARD”, so i am not sure if this an actual vanguard product or a knockoff.Suddenly the more expensive original BMW part doesn’t seem to be so expensive anymore.Since you own a BMW don’t cheap out and get a real (OEM BMW) part that is functional and not a cheap knockoff. I for sure will buy the original now.The other reviews are spot on it seems, I wish I had listen to them. Now I have to get his stuff packed up and drive to the ups to get rid of it.

Very disappointed! It does NOT fit 2016 X5 eDrive40e. The advertisement is misleading. I wasted hours of my time only to discover the truth. The inner support part's screw-holes are way off (resulting in 1/4 inch towards end), leaving absolutely no room to adjust back and forth. Be aware of the OEM style part, instead of OEM part. Now I have to spend extra $20 to replace the rivets. What a painful lesson!
