The Best Monitor I Have Ever Seen In Person
Let's start off with the Pros/Cons of Samsung's SyncMaster SA850T****** PROS ****** - Latest LED PLS monitor technology - Vibrant and accurate color rendering - Great pixel density for a 27'' screen (2560x1440) - 5ms Response time - Ideal for high end gaming systems - Ideal for graphic design - Very wide viewing angles - Simple and elegant design - Matte Finish so no greasy fingerprints - Adjustable to landscape and portrait orientations - Includes a 4 port USB hub - Dual-link DVI cable and USB 2.0 cable included - Smart cable management in the back - 3 year warranty - Great price for a high end model****** CONS ****** - Only 1 port of each DisplayPort, DVI, and HDMI - The USB hub is USB 2.0 not 3.0 - The stand's base is a bit wider then expect - 14''(W) x 9''(L)****** Bottom Line ******The description by this seller isn't accurate. Read Samsung's product pageinstead for Model Number: LS27A850TSPLS monitor technology offers better color rendering than the popular IPSmonitor standard. Ideal for both high-end gaming and graphical design. By farthe best 27 inch, 2560x1440 monitor in the $500 or below price range. The onlydownside is the USB hub included is USB 2.0. I didn't care much about the USBhub but if that feature is important to you keep that in mind. There areonly 3 connection ports, 1 HDMI, 1 Dual-Link DVI and 1 DisplayPort. It wouldhave been nice of they included an extra DisplayPort connection in my opinion, but you can always get an adapter if needed. There is also an audio jack out(headphone) in case you are using HDMI or DisplayPort to transfer audio.****** OVERVIEW ******I recently built the Gaming PC of my dreams with a high-end graphicscard (nVidia GeForce GTX 780Ti). Naturally I needed to upgrade mymonitor setup to take full advantage of my new gaming rig. My old monitorswere pretty good but capped out at 1080p (1K display). First I purchased a4K monitor (3840x2160). Currently 4K monitors make excellent secondary displaysin my opinion. They are great for movies, and maximizing screen space but atonly 30Hz per second my 4K monitor was a bit too jittery for gaming. I had tolook elsewhere.I started searching for what 2K (2560x1440) monitor options where available.Surprisingly there are a lot less 2K options then I would have expected. I found acouple promising models at the $425 range but then I stumbled on Samsung's SA850model series. It has received strong critical acclaim but it was an $100. I wascurious why the price difference. Doing some research I discovered that the SA850series uses a newer PLS monitor technology, similar to what Samsung uses in itstablets. Most of the other comparable monitors use IPS technology, a very good butolder monitor tech for vibrant color reproduction. However, PLS is praised for beingone of the best monitors on tablets in the market so I decided to give this monitorand trusted brand a try.Right out of the box I was impressed with the black matte finish. It is hard to describehow good it looks without seeing it in person. Unfortunately, the features displayed bythe seller aren't correct. There are only 1 HDMI, 1 DisplayPort and 1 Dual-Link DVI ports. Also the USB hub for this model is only USB 2.0, not USB 3.0. Look up Samsung's Product Pagefor the correct monitor specs: Model Number LS27A850TSI set my monitor up using the DisplayPort connection which has the highest transfer speedsuntil HDMI 2.0 is released. (Currently we only have HDMI 1.4; DVI is rumored to be deprecatedmoving forward in favor of DisplayPort). Once connected I was blown away. This is by far thebest monitor I have ever seen in action. Crisp, detail picture with rich color rendering. Iusually have to play around with the color settings for any monitor I get. This time itwas set perfectly right out the box. Playing games at maxed out settings, at 2560x1440 60Hzresolution is a dream come true. I can't recommend Samsung's SA850T monitor enough.

Good quality image, poor base design.
Picture quality is really good, I can even work during the day with the windows open. Compared to the super glossy monitor on my iMac which reflects everything in the house... including me.The big issue I have with this monitor is the base, it's not well designed and the monitor jiggles even when typing... as I'm doing now. It's a poor design to have a big 27" monitor sitting on crappy base. If you actually touch the monitor it wobbles, if you hit your desk with your knew the monitor wobbles. Trying to retouch images in Photoshop while your monitor wobbles around is a bit frustrating. But for the image quality and price I'm keeping it and will figure out some way to stabilize the base.I imagine many bigger monitors suffer from this, except my iMac, it does not wobble.

A very nice display.
PROS:The image quality is excellent. The color is rich, I cannot discern any difference in accuracy between this and my 27-inch Apple Thunderbolt display. This works very well with my mid-2012 MacBook pro.CONS:(1) Very bright --- during the day, with the lights on, I have to set it to 5% brightness, or it fatigues my eyes.(2) The stand is wobbly; it bobbles around a bit while I type. I'm going to have to wedge something in the stand to stop it, or mount it to the wall. All in all, it's worth $460.00 easily.

Very happy with it
One of the best monitors I've ever seen. Matte finish to reduce glare. 2560 x 1440 resolution. I'm using it as a second screen for my new MacBook Pro, and it looks a lot better (aside from being much larger) than the retina display of the MacBook. It comes with a stand that allows almost any orientation. The only negative is that the stand is not sturdy enough to keep the monitor from shaking a little. If that continues to be annoying, I'll attach it to a much more stable VESA stand that I had for my old iMac. The Samsung seems to be VESA mountable, although I haven't tried it.
