Yes, it's lightweight, and yes it's plastic...but it cuts nicely and gives me just what I needed. I was pleasantly surprised and expect that it will hold up well enough for my medium use. If you're looking for heavy duty cutting then this may not be for you.

Sometimes you come across a product you have to have. Admittedly I am a craft supply junky. I was looking for deckle-edge scissors and come across to little paper cutter. Was it is more expensive than the scissors? Why yes. But not so cost prohibitive that the cost did not outweigh the benefits. No worries about not keeping my hand steady and messing up my card. I desperately desired a straight deckle edge and this product fulfilled that desire. It does the job and I am delighted with the result. That said, as guillotine paper cutters go it is small and lightweight. This is for cards or small art.

I've held off on this because on videos people talk about how loud it is, & it sounds much louder on video than other guillotine trimmers. It might be a little louder, but nothing like how it appears in videos. I thought because of the deckle edge, you might need more force to cut, but it cuts beautifully & easily! The deckle cut looks a little different depending on if you cut at the top, the middle or the bottom, which is a nice feature.I love the deckle look, & I still love to ink the edges of my cardstock for certain projects, & the deckle edge is great for enhancing that look.Much more affordable than getting rectangle AND square deckle dies. Plus I can cut any size I want. The only deckle edge dies I've bought are circle ones, I just can't get this trimmer to cut a perfect circle 🤣

Did not work for the purpose I bought it. I needed it for making watercolor greeting cards using 140 lb watercolor paper. This would work fine on thinner paper, but it just shredded the thick watercolor paper, unlike the nice deckle edge I wanted. It has been returned.

Cuts just as I wanted it to. The key is to hold the clear pad for the base to stay firm in place and not move or bounce when cutting. I tried it immediately on some bookmarks I made. Has a sweet deckled edge. No issues at all. I recommend it.
