Miele HX1 Triflex Pro
LIKES; lightweight, easy to use, adaptable, long life batteries, light on brush head, powerful suction, no over suction on lowest setting, so great for curtains and delicates.DISLIKES; dust collection container is ridiculously small for such an efficient vacuum cleaner. It’s more like a children’s toy.COMMENT ON OTHER REVIEWS; others have said it is difficult getting fluff completely out of the dust container because it collects around the filter and space is tight, some have resorted to pulling it out with their fingers or a using a stick, however there is an easy trick; remove the filter body from the top of the dust container by an anti-clockwise twist and click of the lid, the filter cradle comes out of the top attached to the lid and the trapped dust/fluff drops out of the bottom trap door without any fuss. Simple and no need to touch the dust at all.FINALLY A NOTE TO MIELE; include an option to add a flexible hose to make getting into tight spots and cleaning the car easier, just like the Vax Blade 4 Pet & Car cordless. Then you would just about clean up on the competition (excuse pun).FOLLOW UP; it appears my old Dyson wasn’t picking up dust very well as the dust collection container on this machine was filling up quickly. However having used it for a few weeks the amount of dust and fluff has dropped off, not because of lack of suction, but because it has sucked out the bulk of the residual dust from the carpets.

Excellent quality and functionality
I read quite a few wildly contrasting reviews of the Miele while trying to decide if it was worth the extra cost. We bought this one from Amazon Warehouse so the cost was much less, but either way it is an excellent machine. Great suction, good battery life, very manoeuvrable and easy to empty. We got the version with two batteries - a good idea if you have a larger area, but one is enough for a good whizz round. Bear in mind that these stick vacuum cleaners can never replace a good main powered machine for a thorough whole house deep clean, and are not intended to. But they are excellent for a quick clean of a room or two, stairs, hall landing etc. without having to wheel out the big machine. I am impressed with the suction and battery life. It is easy to reconfigure - but once you find your favourite configuration you are unlikely to change it often. The clips can be stiff, but that's because the engineering tolerances are tight to ensure good suction. No point having loose connections! The dust bag is plenty big enough. If you are filling it on less than one battery run then you have the wrong tool for your amount of "dust" and your carpet must be a right mess!

Finicky, but good
I bought this vacuum from marketplace -HX1 Pro, which has 2 batteries. One of the batteries was dead, but Miele replaced it under their guarantee, so just a minor inconvenience. The vacuum works very well, when it works. I've not used the vacuum much, but had one occurance of the batteries losing charge very quickly when stored, so had to revert to my old vacuum. The dust bin is very fiddly, and small, so doesn't hold much at all. When it gets full, fluff gets stuck in the outlet part and has to be pulled out by hand.Putting the vacuum into its other configurations is a faff. The light on the roller head is very strong and useful for seeing dirt. The roller is powered and collects hair, which wraps around it and had to removed by hand with scissors, which is annoying (for people with long hair).Using the vacuum, it's quite heavy and hard to vacuum with at the highest setting, which picks up most dust. If there's anything bigger on the floor, it won't be picked up unless you lift up the vacuum head.Overall, expected more from a premium vacuum (my old Miele CX1 is still brilliant 5 years on). Perhaps with time I will adjust to this new vacuum, and I can't complain about the suction. It is collecting lots of fluff from my older carpets.3/5 stars, expected more at this price

Miele vs Shark
Had a Miele plug in vac that just won't die after a hard life its still going strong and when our shark cordless battery degraded and it was getting a bit worse for wear i though well let's go nuts and get the cordless Miele. Now the Shark replaced a Dyson which to be honest was pants (before i upset anyone with a dyson this was many many moons ago i'm sue they are better now but you know when a company annoys you and you just vow to never but a product from them again .... yeah well that) . Having used the Miele for a little while now i think if i had the choice again i'd get another shark. The Miele is a nice design that can stand up on its own without having to lean it on anything but the shark just edges it for ease of use ease of cleaning emptying etc. Now we seem to have an issue where the Miele drops little bits of whatever you have just sucked up if you lift it up to move it. Which gets annoying fast. Also the edge to edge on the Miele is really poor compared to both the dyson and the shark. So bad i tend to get the old shark out to go around the edges on occasion. On a plus point its nice to use feels well built and sturdy without weighing too much. I got the Miele on sale if i payed the full price for it i really would have been gutted. Now don't get me wrong it's not terrible i don't fully hate it (especially if we get this dropping little bits issue sorted out), i just prefer the shark pound for pound i think its a better machine. FYI Miele customer service AMAZING compared to Dyson.

Worth it for the powerful suction
I've had this Miele for over a week now and used it several times. I bought it to replace a Dyson Absolute and a Miele corded Cat and Dog. The Pros: the suction power is incredible. It picks up so much in comparison to the Dyson. Great that you don't have to change heads to go from hard surfaces to carpet. Unlike some reviewers, I love the light. I don't think it's a gimmick at all. It really helps you see what's hiding in the corners and around skirting boards. I'm getting plenty of power from one battery to do the whole apartment (we're on three floors) so may not have needed the extra battery. But I don't always do all the vacuuming in one go. The Cons: the price, of course, but you are getting the quality you'd expect from anything by Miele; it is heavier than the Dyson; the dust container seems quite small so I have to empty it several times when using but that does show how effective it is; I've also found it hard to release the tube, etc - I have to put my foot on the head while pressing the button; it doesn't go as flat as the Dyson so while I can vacuum under the bed, I'll keep the Dyson to get under the sofas. Rather disappointed that I've had to spend even more to buy the small head for doing the stairs as the main head is too unwieldy. Is it worth the money? On the whole, yes, just for the incredible suction. My corded Miele has been a trusty workhorse for years and this is a definite step forward.
