Safety 1st Furniture Wall Straps 4 Pack

Recently, I purchased a tall dresser for my daughter. She is five, and we have had many discussions about climbing. I am not expecting her to try, but kids are sometimes impulsive little critters who forget the lessons they've been taught and fail to fully consider the consequences of their actions. Heck, some adults are like that.According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, one child dies every two weeks from falling furniture with the largest percentage being my daughter's age (3-5 years). Almost half of those deaths occur from furniture in the child's bedroom. Many of these deaths are preventable by anchoring furniture. During my daughter's mother's pregnancy "nesting phase" she anchored a bookshelf using framing wire and hooks. That thing is not going anywhere, but for the dresser I wanted to try a product specifically made to prevent falling. After looking at local stores with no luck then looking online, I decided on the Safety 1st Furniture Wall Straps.Installation of these is a breeze. You need a drill and to find the studs, but it is simple. I was a bit worried because the dresser was an affordable fiberboard model. I was concerned with finding a solid enough spot on the back of it, but that ended up being pretty easy. You install one end on the wall and on the furniture. You can do this separately as you will use a middle piece to connect the two straps. I suppose you could use a level and whatnot, but I did not. It is pretty forgiving. Once you hook the straps together, you can tighten them by pulling on the end of the strap. I did so while holding the dresser close to the wall. There is very little slack. You do not have to tug on the straps with all of your weight or anything. The wall side is slightly angled to help it hold even tighter without simply sliding out of the wall.I then tested the straps by trying to tip the dresser. Could I potentially have pulled the thing out of the wall? Probably. I am doubtful that the fiberboard would have held all of my weight. Would my daughter be able to pull the thing off the wall? It is highly unlikely. I feel very safe with it in her room. We still regularly talk about not climbing, but this gives me peace of mind.Overall, these things are strong, easy to install, and affordable. I purchased two packs just to have on hand if I get any other furniture. I am very happy with my purchase.

First off, these are very good straps, seem quite strong, and install well. They come with all the screws necessary, although no anchors (which maybe isn't the best idea anyway, but nonetheless).My issue is that it counts the strap that connects to the wall and the strap that connects to the item as two distinct pieces, which is crazy to me. Just because there is a connector in the middle and they are detachable, shouldn't make it two straps - one is useless without the other. I bought an 8 pack, thinking I got enough for 4 pieces of furniture, but it's actually only 4.

We purchased these to secure a large mirror and bookcase to keep our toddler safe. My husband said these were pretty easy to install (and he's not the handy type) and that they took no time at all. They are secure to the wall and piece of furniture and I'm confident that the furniture will not topple over when my toddler is pulling and leaning on it.

Maybe I put them on wrong (I did follow the instructions) but they don't keep tension. If you pull in the furniture to test, the strap pulls to the end.

I have purchased a ton of these over the past few years (both on Amazon and in big box stores) for keeping large and/or heavy furniture secure. They do a wonderful job at preventing furniture from falling or tipping over, in turn keeping my child safe!There are two main features that I personally really like about these particular straps. One, is that they are fully adjustable, so you can make the strap as long or short away from the wall as you need. Having the option to adjust the length helps make sure that I can keep the straps snug to the wall, but also being able to make them longer allows me to get back behind a piece of furniture to grab something that may have fell behind it or to even access an outlet. The adjustments can be made in snap and can be changed at any time without unscrewing it from the wall.The second great feature is the middle buckle that allows me to completely detach the two ends just in case I need to completely move the furniture out of the way on a temporarily basis. For example, when we put in new flooring in certain areas of our home, this was a wonderful feature to have, because I didn't have to unscrew the entire thing out of the wall. I simply unbuckled it in the middle and moved the furniture away (one end stays in the wall and the other end stays in the piece of furniture) and then easily connected it back once the flooring installation was complete.With this particular listing I received two packs of two straps, a total of four altogether. The straps are made of some strong type of nylon that you can pull and pull on, but it won't comprise the integrity or strength. They're pretty durable! These straps are a must if you have babies or young children in the home. I definitely recommend them!

I guess these might be good if you are trying to hold up an enormous wall-sized bookcase, or a TV stand with a very large and heavy TV on it, but these are way too much overkill for many uses. I have a relatively small (18" x 72" tall) display case which is top heavy, so I wanted some kind of strap to prevent it from falling over in case of earthquakes or someone bumping into it. But these straps are HUGE! The strap is about a foot long, and about 1.5" wide. Then these are the plastic parts which can be used to loosen or tighten the strap depending on where it is in relation to the wall. These are also quite large. It was just too much for my application, and I couldn't think of any furniture we have in our house that would need straps this beefy. Normally, I wouldn't complain about something over-built, but these are large, and ugly, and are not usable for me. Again, if you have huge furniture, or kids that will do everything they can to tip over furniture, these may be a good choice, but for simplicity and aesthetics, these are a big fail.
