lure loser
initially I was a big fan of this very affordable rod. a few practice casts in the yard and it seemed to cast like a dream. 3 days into my surf fishing trip, however, and I've now lost 3 lures and discovered a crack in one of the guides that is likely explaining it. another one of the guides had its lining just pop off. really disappointed in the utterly poor quality rod. lesson learned - you get what you pay for

Not bad once it finally got here
The rod finally arrived about a week past the ETA, but it was well packed and in great shape. It was too late for me to use on the trip I had planned to try it out on, but it appears to be pretty well made and feels comfortable. I have to say I think the hook holder is obnoxious. I'd much prefer a stationary ring above the top grip instead of this big ring flopping around, noisily near the butt end of the handle. That's not only noisy and inconvenient to use, but hooking a plug or jig into it prevents the rod from going into a holder. My daughter did fish with it all day about 2 weeks after it arrived, and she said it was very comfortable to use except for the hook retainer.

buy it
beautiful rod that delivers. is strong and delivers while reeling striped bass or blue fish. The price is a fraction of a Penn Rod with twice the power

Nice looking rod but major quality issue
The rod looks nice, well made and the ring guides is very strong. However the tip of the rod broke the first time out pulling in a small 2lb fish. The company is responsive and provided a replacement very quickly. With the second rod, the ceramic ring for the line guide shattered after a few use. Bought a different model from the same brand and its been very reliable so far.

Rod performs great
I needed a flexible general use rod for casting off the boat and not going very deep. This rod is very sensitive and a lot of fun to use. Going back out on Friday and plan to use it again for some shallow fishing out here in California.

More bang for your money than I expected
I did expect this pole to be much since it cost under $50 I used it on a 300 size baitcaster and I was throwing large swimbaits This is a good pole for large swimbaits as well as ocean fishing It’s worth every penny

What seemed great wasn’t so great
First reaction was great out the package, nice and light with a strong backbone and sensitive tip which with be great for rockfish fishing on the ocean on opening day on April 1st. Went out caught a few rockfish in the 1-3 pound fish and after about 4 fish I got snagged on kelp so I kayaked around to undo my rig and try to pop my rig off the kelp and the rod snapped with I say about 5-8 pound of forced on rod. After the rod snapped I pulled my fishing line and my rig came undone so that was weird how it snapped. The tip itself (after its broken) is strong I couldn’t break it and the backbone also very strong but it seems like maybe the connection from tip to backbone is weak jointed? What ever it is it sucked the rest of the day I fish on a broken rod. I think I’ll stick to my Ugly Stik Rods.
