yes, I put the warm/hot iron on the rack all the time following my ironing.

My s hanging on a door and measures 71" from to of iron to bottom of ironing board. My ironing board is full size.

I have an older model Rowenta basic iron and it fits but it is a tight fit. I actually don't use the iron holder it is to high up the door for me.
