Puts out some heat just not as much as I needed it for. I use them for the doghouses in the winter. But the houses aren’t insulated so the heat doesn’t really build/stay. They are really rugged tho and do get hot to the touch when on. They focus the heat towards the front so the fixture doesn’t get hot. Even with a 150 watt bulb the plastic of the igloo didn’t heat up too much and the fixture is just a cage. Overall I recommend just not for higher heat needs.

This type of heat source seemed to be more recommended for chicks than a bulb w/ light. I ordered both. I tried this one first. It worked so well, I never tried the red bulb. I suspended the lamp from the top of the brooder box, which is 4'x3' & 2' high. The 22 babies have been quite content sleeping under it. As they got older, I raised the lamp position so they wouldn't get overheated. Definitely recommend.

I use these in several of my reptile enclosures. 9/10 times they last for 6+ months and arrive packaged very well. I have ordered numerous times and have ever only have one dud which the manufacturer replaced. These are a great value and I will continue to order these instead of buying overpriced reptile marketed lights at the pet store that usually blow put within a month.

Be careful this thing gets really hot! When I used it for my snakes tank the temperature went up to 100°. Make sure do you understand the cage to water it wattage ratio and understand that Knowing the ratio may not help with extreme heat.Works very well. I’m saving the lights for chickens.

Decided to switch out a couple heat bulbs with these and they are doing just what I needed! My snake likes the extra heat without the extra brightness.The temp gage works just right also and easy to place exactly where it is needed.
