Q: hope this isn't a stupid question...but what is the blade length? is it adjustable?

The blade is approx. 1.75 inches wide. The cutting edge is approx. 1/4" long. It is not adjustable.

Q: How wide is the head/cutting area?

The head on mine is 1 1/2". I love it!

Q: Is there a #10 blade for these?

It comes with #30 Trimmer Blade. Blade cannot be change. You may attach extra combs that come with it. They are small cut 3 mm and 6 mm, large cut 9 mm - 12 mm. I use this clipper for grooming face, feet, tail for my miniature poodle. This only trimmer that he doesn't mind when I groom him. It does not have loud noise.
