Aqua Chem 12101AQU-06 Xtra Blue Swimming Pool Shock, 30-Pack

We started purchasing this shock when it was carried by KMart, years ago. After Kmart closed, had to switch to different brand from Clorox. We use this shock weekly, and use chorine tablets in the skimmer. Never, never have a problem with low levels, or algae. We use a solar blanket, but only occasionally, mostly in beginning weeks of summer when nights get cooler. We do not have a pool heater.Best shock!

This seemed to work fine as a pool shock, but all the blue color wound up in the cartridge filter for our pool and was a HUGE mess to clean up. After one round of cleaning the filters, a bunch of the coloring was still on the cartridges and wound up going back into the pool, making it so cloudy you can't even see the bottom. Opened the filter and cleaned the cartridges again (a huge hassle), more blue stuff came out. I'm hoping now that what's left in the pool will go back into the filter and I can just leave it until I clean next spring. I would never buy this stuff again, I'm amazed nobody else has posted a review about this problem.

This is easily the best shock out there. This has kept my pool crystal clear. Takes care of all algae. I have tried all the other shocks and they just do not work like this one. I shock my pool once a month and this keeps it crystal clear. I live in Texas and the hot weather really creates algae problems. This product helps solve all those problems. Wish is it was available locally. If you buy the 20 or 36 pack it comes to about 5 dollars a pound. The have a clorox one with the same name at the local stores but that does not work the same as this.

I've used Aqua Chem extra blue for the past two years and love it, BUT this box of 36 turned out to be a complete waste of money. I thought I was getting a great deal, but I completely wasted my money. I've used three bags (3 lbs) out of this box and on all three occasions my chlorine level measured 0 ppm. In the past, one bag would raise the level to 3-5 ppm. I don't know if this box of 36 bags is old or has been exposed to extreme heat and humidity, but it is completely ineffective. Another example of a deal to good to be true. Don't waste ur money on this box of 36.

I love this stuff! In South Florida (because of the heat), it doesn’t take long for a pool to start turning green, and with the Aqua Chem it starts to work immediately! During “off season” I can “maintain “ the pool by putting in one bag every 3-4 weeks and during the hottest of summer months, a bag every 2 weeks (and turn the pump on for a few hours). The price is reasonable, too.

I've read everyone's review and went ahead an bought this product. Ordered 10lbs. Figuring out after opening my pool they only shipped 5lbs. I'm on my third 1lb shock and it hasn't done anything!!! So poor review, I first get ripped off on the purchase and now product. Sticking with liquid shock.. lessened learned!

We've been purchasing this brand of chlorine shock for nearly a decade and have been getting it on Amazon ever since Walmart starting carrying the cheap Clorox brand instead. That Clorox stuff is useless but Xtra Blue is awesome. It keeps the water crystal clear, like no other product we've ever tried. We won't use any other shock in our pool.

You only get what you pay for. This is the best shock for your money. Keeps my water sparkling. Worth the money.
