These knobs are gorgeous. The black has a beautiful matt paint job and they feel very sturdy and high quality in the hand. My contractor loved them and so do I. He says the crimping on the sides is there on purpose, to help you take off the plate if you ever change the knob. I wouldn’t have noticed it if I hadn’t read other reviews about it. Clearly it wouldn’t be a mistake on every single knob. All high quality knobs have this. These knobs are slightly more than the other brands, but they hang absolutely straight and the lever snaps back level every time (my kwikset lever knobs went crooked and saggy within a few days).
