Q: I replaced the original in my 2006 GMC Sierra and I'm getting a washer fluid error. Do I have a pump w/bad sensor? Anyone else having this problem?

The pump and sensor are two separate units. I replaced the pump with the new 8-6710 and it works fine. Installed the old sensor and it gives me the low fluid warning.

Q: Is there any secret to getting this pump to prime? If I manually siphon water up to it and quickly connect it, it's great, but can't do it on it's own.

Response to your question , pump should prime and pump on it's own . I would check wiring connection to make sure has power . Also check rubber grommet at base of pump for proper seal . Last check fluid lines for good connection and kinks and corrosion , especially around battery . Acid tends to corrode line around battery especially on G M makes . Is what happened to mine.

I don't know precisely. I can tell you that it was a perfect match for what was already there in my 2004 Oldsmobile Silhouette van, including the hoses. It was completely plug and play. I suspect that, if you were told it would fit your vehicle, it will, unless you have modified the windshield washer tank or hoses.
