I would highly recommend this book, and the entire Story Of The World Series, to all ages. With just the basic books, it would be interesting non fictional reading that will support any history program. If you get the activity book to go with it and the test booklet, you've got yourself a very interesting, hands on history curriculum that can be used with multiple ages and rotated out year to year. It's dinomite! If your child is younger, use it as a read aloud history book.

In previous school years, I would read The Story of the World aloud, then have my children verbally answer the review questions and write a chapter summary. Since my children are 11 and 13 and are capable of reading the text independently, I use the test sheets as reading comprehension checks. The test book includes the right to make copies for the children in one family, so I only had to buy one book. It took about an hour to make all the copies I needed.Currently, there is one test for each chapter, plus the answer key - that's it. One thing I would have liked is three or four cumulative tests to check retention of material after 10 to 12 chapters have been covered. I will most likely write these myself or create some other method to review several chapters at a time.

I LOVE this series. My kids look forward to our nightly readings. They read their books for 20 min and then I read this to them for 15-30. They get very disappointed if we have to skip our time with these books. They are learning so much about the world!

We love all of the Story of the World books. They make history easy to teach. There are many crafts, optional activities, and references to books for further reading in each chapter. Perfect for our needs!

This book is fantastic, I'm using it to test the history knowledge of my 10, 12 and 13 year olds. I use this book along with the Story of the World activity book and the main Story of the World book. All three books together make a fantastic set and a great homeschool resource. I just photocopy the pages so each of my children can have a copy to work with.

I was looking for the textbook, but this test book is under paperback Story of the world Vol 4 textbook, waited a month to get it because of COVID, then realized this is the test book not the textbook, and it cost me more than half of the price to return it. disappointed. !!!
