W-I-D-E: works really well where it fits, but it doesn't fit on many chairs
I have a lower back condition that was asymptomatic until I had an injury about 1 year ago, which made sitting in hard/firm chairs challenging. I'd sit in a bad chair for 1-2 hours and have pain for days. The price was steep, but so has been coping with recovery setbacks from trying to resume life.Good for car/vehicle travel, probably not other types:-Primarily using in my car, and it helps a lot, especially with long trips. I can sit for hours now, and before it was like 20-30 mins before pain started. Running errands is not a big deal now.-Seems like it is too wide for coach seats in airplanes, buses, trains, etc.Not so good for:-Basic office chairs, dining chairs. It is so wide it flops off the chair, and it seems like that would damage the produce long-term because the material is so dense and stretchy it pulls it down. People have complained about this.-Already cushy chairs/surfaces. I'm only 155lbs, and I think that is a factor. The cushion is dense, and it seems like if the couch cushion (or whatever the purple cushion is ontop of) is less dense/soft, the couch cushion will yield it's shape to body weight until it's density is "maxed out" then the purple cushion will start to yield its shape to the body. It's not a big deal, I had just read that some people liked to use it on their favorite chairs and couches, so I wanted to try and noticed this issue.Issue:-Way, way, way too wide for some people's bodies.-Should have smaller sized models with same height and technology, maybe options at 1/2 and 2/3 the current width and slightly shorter.-I know there are other models, but the widths are not significantly smaller to trade off the taller height of this cushion and the height is more important.-Because I have a back condition, I'd like to bring this with me on flights, to movies, and to meetings outside my office that can take hours, but it's just so freaking big, heavy, and floppy. If the company can bring the width down, it could be folded into normal size tote or shoulder bag and used more discretely. Tons of people live with back pain, it's helpful to have something that works for pain and works in most conditions.Tall people:If you plan to use this in your car only occasionally or in your spouse's car occasionally (e.g., you use their car for longer trips), test it out first to make sure you still fit. I'm 5'11" and drive a sedan. This has made it so I'm almost too tall for my car without reclining the seat, which I wouldn't want to do because then my neck would strain.

Air out cushion before using
I have owned this cushion for about one year. I bought it to add extra cushion for an office chair that was losing support. It is, by far, the best seat cushion I have used. It is well constructed and truly supports where other, cheaper cushions collapse. Purple is well worth the money and I even bought a thinner version for my dining room chair. I think this would be a tremendous product for wheelchair users or those who have had an injury.Things to know: when first opened, the plastic has a strong odor. I set the cushion in my garage until the odor was gone. This is a HEAVY cushion so not one that you would use as a portable. It is three inches thick and raises your feet off the ground, so I use a small, low foot stool for proper alignment. This is a great product. You get what you pay for.

Difference from first seating...
I felt the difference as soon as I sat down. I had a seat cushion, and I thought it was comfortable when I first got it, but as soon as sat down on this Purple cushion, I knew it was much better! It does make you feel like you're sitting in a booster seat at first, but the comfort makes it well worth it. This is the first day I've used it, and I have already noticed a difference when I get up from sitting. I don't have the aches I usually have. I should have gone with the Purple seat cushion at first! I love the mattress I have from them, and I would LOVE to have one of there new and approved mattresses.

Worth buying the real thing, very pleased with the quality and comfort
I don't spend money just for the sake of spending money, but I think this is one of the products that's worth buying the name brand. Several months ago, I tried a knockoff of the same type of cushion (grid, etc.) that was about 1/3 of the cost and the entire month I had it I was debating whether or not it made enough of a difference to justify keeping (I returned it). With this one from Purple, as soon as I sat on it the first time, I knew I'd keep it and still feel the same way about it after using it a while.I deducted half a star because I think it's somewhat overpriced, even with buying it on sale. I deducted another half star because it doesn't stay in place quite as well as I would like, especially considering the price. It stays in place moderately well, and it would probably do a bit better on some chairs than the one I have, though I can imagine it doing worse on some other chairs too, but I still have to slightly reposition the cushion every time I sit down if I need or want it to be in the "right" place.I've now been using this cushion for a month - long enough to feel qualified to say it has significantly improved my ability to sit and work at my computer for extended periods, but I haven't owned it long enough to offer insight into the longevity. It feels like it'll last a while, but only time will tell. I've also been using the cushion exclusively at my desk, but when I'm able to get back out on the road for some long trips in my van, I'm looking forward to using it there too. If it was cheaper, I'd probably buy a second one to keep one in the van and one at my desk. With my specific issues, on a good day, I used to be able to sit at my computer for up to maybe two or three hours total before the pain would be bad enough that I had to be done for the day, but with using this cushion I can go about three times as long. Sitting at my desk for sometimes several hours at a time, I don't know how to gauge the cooling effect, but I certainly don't get a hot butt.I had considered the next step down from this model, the "Office Chair Upgrade", but based on my experience with the other cushion I tried, I knew I wanted one that was big enough to cover the entire seat of my chair and that first one wasn't big enough. When I got the that one, I didn't think it would make as much of a difference as it does for me to have the cushion cover the full seat. The "Ultimate" is big enough to cover the seat side to side on my office chair and only falls a little short at the front edge, which is fine for me. Since my chair has a contoured seat already, I might have preferred a completely flat cushion, but not at the expense of size. For those who haven't tried cushions like this before, it's worth mentioning how it's going to affect the seat height and how that extra height could end up being positive, neutral, or negative. When I tried the knockoff, I wasn't thinking about how much it would change the seat height and it was a little surprising. But, I'm also a bit of a stickler when it comes to ergonomics, especially with some of the physical issues I have. Someone who doesn't need things to be as dialed in will be less affected. At my desk, I think the added height is an overall slight net positive: I'm tall enough to compensate for the cushion by adjusting my seat height without bottoming it out and since the armrests on my chair aren't adjustable, it slightly improves that for me so I'm using better posture and arm position for typing. For someone shorter, it could be the case they'd need to plan on a footrest or something to maintain proper ergonomics. In my van, though I haven't used it there yet, I expect it's going to be a solid positive because, while I'm tall enough that I'm not bottoming out my office chair even after adjusting it to compensate for the cushion, I'm short enough that the seat in my van (Ford E350) isn't comfortable for me for long trips since it isn't adjustable. This will give me the extra seat height there that I want there.
