A Way to Improve Trading Fundamentals Deep Pockets Required
Good introduction to macro trading. The author tries to explain his thinking process of how to find the best trade within a choice of financial instruments given a certain view. By using various successful and unsuccessful examples of his trades he describes how to eliminate inferior trades to arrive at the perfect trade aka the trade with the highest risk adjusted return potential. Please note that the trading strategies discussed here require a healthy appetite for draw downs and a very high success rate for the trades involved. Basically, this style is one the opposite of HFTs. But even if you are a short term pattern trader, there’s plenty of ideas, hints and tips to improve your trading. I wished the book had a touch more clarity and a full mathematic model - something very difficult to achieve.

A practical book for experienced trader
As a hybrid & structured credit trader with a bit of experience this book was a nice journey.I like the ideas of the author, which are similar to other traders like soros or taleb.I like the practical examples, although difficult to navigate if you were not in the markets at the time.To sum up I felt like I was talking to my boss on my trading desk: lot of informations if you read behind the lines although you don’t understand everything the first time.. definitely need to read it many times !

A brilliant book on macro trading!
This groundbreaking book presents a unique, efficient framework to navigate the complex world of leveraged finance and to formulate optimal trading strategies. I marvel at the simplicity but sound reasoning behind each strategy. The book gets the point across without being distracted by technical details as books involving fixed income often fail to avoid. The flow of the book follows the logical sequence of a thought process, making it easier to follow. Any reader, beginners or veterans alike, should find the book enriching their knowledge of leveraged finance. In particular, I like the pendulum analogy, the forest and tree dilemma, the idiot factor, coin flip and stop loss logic... how familiar all these things sound and yet how often we get tripped and fail to realize. This book teaches reader how to find order in chaos, how to use simple logical reasoning to emerge above the chaos and to optimize strategies that work in multiple scenarios. This book refreshes minds, opens up new perspectives and promotes intellectual engagement. A must read for anyone aspiring to establish a career in the dynamic world of macro trading.
