I was looking for an alternative to wearing heavy bulky rubber waders while turkey hunting, and these worked perfectly for what I needed. They kept my pant legs dry from just below the knees down when walking in wet weeds and grass, and kept water from getting down into my boots and on my socks when crossing creeks. If you're looking at these for hunting purposes just be aware that the closure is velcro so putting them on and off is not quiet. Basically put them on before you get in the woods and take them off when you get home or back to your vehicle.As for the fit, they are universal and adjustable. Once I got them adjusted to where I wanted they stayed in places and I basically forgot they were even on.
