What is the purpose of the little piece on the end of the liner that comes off?

Does the clear color break like reported for the other colors ?

I have never had one break, and I get this liner via subscription every couple months. It's my favorite!

May i see Totally Toffee on lips with medium nude tones? I've gotten stuck too many times with descriptions. thanks
