My 15 year old daughter recently broke her hand and she had to be in a cast for 6 full weeks. For the first week, we covered her cast with a trash bag each evening before she took a bath and I would assist her with washing her hair. The entire process was miserable, and figured there had to be a better way...so I headed to Amazon.com and found this. At first, I was a little nervous about ordering it due to several negative reviews...but I decided that just about anything had to be better than what we were currently doing. I chose to order the wide size because I was nervous that the large hand portion of her cast wouldn't fit through the standard opening. The clear plastic portion was huge compared to her arm, and truthfully I'm really not sure if the gasket/opening portion was any larger than the standard one would have been. That being said, we were not disappointed with the performance at all. It worked just as it was designed to. The top of the protector came up above her elbow and the gasket fit tightly, not letting any water inside. In our situation, this product was life changing! She was able to shower by herself for the remainder of the time she was wearing the cast, with no fear of damaging it. She was very thankful to have her privacy and freedom back. Even so, I can understand why so many gave this product a negative review. My daughter is 5'2" tall and about 110lbs. The gasket fit so tightly on her arm that it left a mark behind for a while after it had been taken off, and I'm pretty sure it could have cut her circulation off entirely if her arm was much larger than it is. Either way, we were very satisfied and it suited our purpose perfectly.

Purchased this for my 5 year old son who has a cast that goes up midway between his elbow and shoulder. The ring is tight (like it should be) and keeps water out when he showers or takes a bath. The length of the bag is a little too long though and would probably work better for an older child with longer arms.

Worked great the first time. On second time the seal on the arm side ripped while putting it on.It now leaks.Didn't bother calling manufacturer because by the time they could send a replacement, the cast would be off!Would not recommend it.

We have the full-arm cast version. It works well at keeping the water out, but the tight rubber opening makes it very difficult to get over the cast, especially in the early days when jostling is painful. I was putting it on my kid and having trouble. I can't imagine how somebody would put it on themselves if one of their arms was broken.Once it's on, it does provide a good seal, but always leaves a red mark on the arm from the tight band. Not very comfortable, but gets the job done.

This item is a god send in dealing with my 4 year old's broken arm. Fits tight but not uncomfortably and keeps the cast perfectly dry. My son doesn't mind having it on during bath time. Item is made from heavy duty materials and of course, re-usable. A friend had recommended this to me. Neither my MD or the physical therapists I work with had heard of this cast protector. The company should advertise it more, it's the perfect answer to dealing with bathtime in a cast. They offer it for leg casts,too.Loved the Amazon Prime 2-day shipping!!

I bought this for PICC line protection in the shower. It works great!! Water doesn't get in! Note that it does seem awkward with the blue circle thing seems a bit awkward at first. But you get used to it. It was a bit constricting at first, but after wearing it a week or two, it wasn't constricting. a MUCH better alternative to taping sandwich bags on your arm. Also note that if you take HOT showers like me, expect a little condensation. It ISN'T leaking, it's condensation, like you get on your mirrors, from the heat.

I ordered the short arm wide. My arm is not that large but I am glad I ordered the wide because it is very tight and keeps all water away from cast. I do wish it were shorter because its very long but I can securely bath and shower without fear of any water intrusion. Just follow directions to thoroughly wipe down protector, especially around the cuff. Because it's so tight it would be helpful to have assistance putting it on and taking it off. The reason for my 4 rating is the incredibly tight cuff for a wide arm.
