This appliance toasts and browns things evenly. That is what I was looking for because I don't care about grill marks. I also like that I can control how hot this grill gets. I cooked some fileted chicken breasts on it, and they cooked evenly and browned nicely. The quick heat on both sides of the breasts sealed in the juices. Also, battered, frozen fish filets are wonderful. We don't have an oven so I use this to brown garlic bread slices. Of course, it toasts sandwiches and melts the cheese in the sandwhich. There are only two cons with this appliance. 1. If you have ever cooked pre-made burgers from Walmart, you have noted the amount of water and fat that cooks out of the burger. There is no way to drain off this stuff while the burger cooks, so I mop up some of this stuff with a paper towel while the burger cooks. However, the grill makes a great burger browned a little on both sides. You may have the same issue with raw chicken because it, too, is pumped full of water. 2. Right after I purchased this grill it dropped $10.00. Sad for me, great for you. Be careful of the model you order. The color I ordered is a flat grill. The other color is for a grill that will give you grill marks.

Very happy so far with this sandwich press. Cleans very easy. Heats up quick.

I have cooked fish and large tiger shrimp trying the top open an also closed. Both ways turn out perfect. Of course you have to adjust your cooking time. Burgers turned out perfect just make sure what you cook is not high fat or you will have a lot of fat to clean up. I on purpose didn't want one with drip trays. I buy low fat meat anyway. Perfect Grill cheese took about 3 minutes. Love my new kitchen toy. If you cook for more than 1 person I would suggest buying a larger one. This one will hold 2 grill cheese perfect. I have easily cooked 2 different things side by side like I said perfect meal for 1 person. Oh an my experience with these make sure you buy one that you can adjust the temperature. I cooked a very tender new York steak last night. High heat to brown then lower heat till medium rare. One steak took up the whole area. Lid was down through whole cooking time. When it was done I tossed a couple eggs in it's juices. Yummy. FYI, stay right there when cooking cuz it's fast.

Seems to heat evenly across the plates. Others find that it heats slowly, but I disagree. I plug in before I start making the sandwiches, and it has heated sufficiently before I'm ready to put them in. I like that it's quite heavy, so it applies a gentle, constant downward pressure on the sandwiches while cooking. I also love the size, since I can toast sandwiches for the whole family at the same time and we can all eat together (instead of my old tiny sandwich maker that I'd still be making my own sandwich by the time my daughter was done with her lunch). And because there are no ridges, cleanup is a breeze (literally just a quick wipe). Oh, and a nice touch is the cord storage underneath.

This performs great. Heats up quick and large capacity. It heats evenly on the top and bottom, which is much better than the cuisinart griddler that this replaced. Definitely an upgrade. One star less because it has no power button

Big cooking surface. Works well. Worth the extra money.

We've had a sandwich press/grill for about a decade. Worked great! My son decided to take it with him to college so we were looking for a replacement. It took us 3 go's to get what we wanted. The first one ordered on here was much smaller than it looked in the photo so was returned. The second one which we got from Canadian Tire we also returned because it didn't have a free moving hinge/top plate so all sandwiches pressed were squashed on one edge. Finally found this one which does everything our old one did. In addition it has a temperature control and a slider to lock it for vertical storage. So far, so good!

We use this all the time to make sandwiches. Who doesn't like a grilled cheese sandwich with Campbell's tomato soup on a cold winter day? It is easy to clean. Just wipe it with a cloth or paper towel after it has cooled off. It heats up and cools off both very quickly.
